Still In One Peace

Little Flock Music is pleased to announce the release of Peter Mayer’s latest musical project “Still In One Peace”.

The CD reunites the songwriting and performing team of Roger Guth and Jim Mayer as well as new songs with Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame artist Mac McAnally. Peter says about the project “the music that happened through my window and found its way here was touched by family, friends, hurricanes (sometimes a combination of all), late night conversations, early morning coffee bars, Bibles, The Sunday Times and books that me company through road and home days”.

The CD is available for purchase at www.littleflockmusic.com on December 4, 2007 and at the “Stars and Promises 2007” Christmas Shows.

From the Stars and Promises program:

"...Peter has just recently completed his 9th solo recording, Before and After. (note from Tiki: the cd title is STILL IN ONE PEACE, but there is a song titled Before and After.) The release date is set for November 27th, 2007. It includes folk rock and jazz influences presented with uplifting songs of life. Along with stellar musicians in the Peter Mayer Group, there are guest appearances from Mac McAnally, Bill Payne of Little Feat, and Jake Shimabukuro, the young ukulele prodigy."

Liner notes:

My thanks to you for sharing a little of your time with these songs, collected over the last three years or so. The music that happened through my window and found its way here was touched by family, friends, hurricanes, (sometimes a combination of all), late night conversations, early morning coffee bars, Bibles, The Sunday Times and books that kept me company through road and home days. I let the songs go where they wanted to, knowing I've never been let down by a song before (even "Feelings" had me for a chord or two). In several cases, we had titles and music, but no lyrics as we went into recording day. For that, I want to thank the musicians for their stunning work and patience.

I'm a fan of junkyards. Something we need, use and love can be thrown away and then adopted again by someone else and become new in a way all over again. It's a cycle of re-creation and belonging that can make us feel important and useful in a fast-paced world full of words and ways to say useless. A friend of mine signs off his emails with a phrase "Still In One Peace". Through all the breakdowns, spare parts, wild roads, and variety of voyages these songs have taken, I could think of no better name for this record.

All my best,
Peter

From the page in the liner notes with endorsements and credits in fine print, I especially liked this:

"Special thanks for the love and untiring support of my family Patricia, Brendan, and India without whom this project would not have been possible. Before and after and in all the meanwhiles you've been the big big smile on my insides."

I thought he was doing a Beatles tribute thing?
And feel free to throw things at me but....I hope this is not an overly religious album. He seems to be swinging more that was in the last couple of years. I am not going to the stars and promises show because I am not into that but I will have my friend get me a copy. We shall see.

According to the email from Little Flock, in addition to the new cd, Peter has some new fun gift ideas too:

"Ring Out The Bells" Christmas Ornament
Celebrate the season with this Christmas tree ornament. This four-inch
metallic disc shows a pealing holiday bell in the center, with the words "Stars
and Promises" ( http://www.littleflockmusic.com/product.asp?ID=PM-SP-CD ) and
"Ring Out the Bells"_
( http://www.petermayer.com/AUDIO/SP/RingOutTheBells.mp3 ) stamped out around the perimeter. The flat, silver-colored ornament will
look great on your own tree, or is great to be given as a gift!
Other new items include the "Blue Guitar" key ring and the Peter Mayer tote
bag. All items are available at www.littleflockmusic.com
( http://www.littleflockmusic.com/ ) .

You're most welcome!

Did you see my artistic interpretation of Peter Mayer Christmas lights on pg 3 of the Stars and Promises thread?

What Peter Mayer Christmas lights would look like:

(sorry, I amuse myself sometimes, and this is one of those times! :D )

I think of you every time I think of Peter, and vice versa! :D That was fun!

(edit: that "reads" kinda strange... to explain to anyone passing through, CSM and I met at a PMG show in Louisville a couple years ago, and it was a great show, and a great experience!)

absolutely! Afterall, it's not everyday that you get invited to go to Steak n Shake to eat and hang out with Peter and Jim Mayer, right?

And if you think of me whenever you think of Peter (Mayer), then I'm in some pretty good company! :D

Haven't heard it yet, but from the hymn medley at the end I'd have to take a guess that it leans in the religious direction.

Can't wait to listen!
