My great uncle was arrested for making "bathtub gin". He called his best customer, the alderman down the street (who later became mayor), and the charges were dropped within an hour.
His biggest worry was the IRS. He used to bury mason jars of cash in the back yard of the apartment house he lived in. It was a family owned building and my dad took it over in 1970. We were digging up the lawn to put in a shed in 1975 and found two jars, each with $500 in them.
I've got cousins who still say that money belonged them them.
