Part of Bonds treatment was arguable racial but now, race aside it is time to throw Clemens and Bonds into the same boat.

I always thought of him as someone the Yankees couldn't live with, couldn't live without. The offense didn't seem to click when he wasn't in the leadoff spot, but at the same time I don't think he was ever the player the Yankees thought they were getting from Minnesota.Wino you know wrote:The fans in New York liked him too.RinglingRingling wrote:this is the sad one. Chuck had a lot of potential and was liked in MN. He goes to the big city and those ba#$%& turned him around.
They were very aware of his weakness, and tolerated it. They only turned against him when he tried being something he wasn't. After two years there, he thought he was Derek Jeter II, and you don't have to tell any Yankee fan that just wasn't the case.

Waiting for the day when a player says, "I was getting up in years, my bat speed had slowed considerably. I knew if I wanted to keep making five millions dollars a year, I had to do something. Taking the shots was far easier than working out all winter. Obviously, one look at my statistics during those seasons will show you it worked."CaptainP wrote:So far it seems to be split about 50/50 with players admitting or denying the report.
Those who admit are about 50/50 split with either claiming it was HGH for medicinal reasons, or "I just did it once and stopped".

Well - I'll bite. Countdown ( Olberman's nightly show ) is probably my favorite show on television. He is provided so much material to criticize our President by Bush himself, Bill O'reilly ( Fox Noise ) , Comedian Rush Limbaugh , Dick Cheney and others. Obviously, you don't watch the show - otherwise - you would be talking about his anti-Bush rants (plural). It was not a one time rant. The President's mis-handling of the ill concieved Iraq War and his mis-handling of the English language provide enough fodder to criticize # 43 to last a lifetime.
And no - I don't think it is funny either. And I am sure the loved ones of the nearly 4,000 dead brave soldiers nor the 30,000 maimed and crippled soldiers don't think this war has been funny either.
For those who don't watch Keith Olberman's show - he ends each show with " And that's all for this - the 1,685th day since the declaration of mission accomplished. I'm Keith Olberman - Goodnight. "
Thank God for Keith Olberman's voice of outrage at the total failure and incompetence of this administration. And thank God we live in acountry that allows ( usually ) public discussion and dissent.
And now - back to baseball.

OH, WAIT.................
Sorry-I don't want a president that emulates Shakesphere. I want one who'll keep MY overly-ample a$$ safe. and he's done that.and his mis-handling of the English language provide enough fodder to criticize # 43 to last a lifetime.
(I also want a president-ANY PRESIDENT-that will let me keep more of my own money. And he's done that).
Besides-have you heard the syntax of several of YOUR past heroes?
They can't ALL be Calvin Coolidge, you know.
WHO THE HELL thinks the war is "funny?" Funny, NO. Worth winning, DEFINATELY.And no - I don't think it is funny either. And I am sure the loved ones of the nearly 4,000 dead brave soldiers nor the 30,000 maimed and crippled soldiers don't think this war has been funny either.
And I would think Keith Olberman would be HAPPY over the 4000 dead soldiers.
That's 4000 less votes for Republicans next time around. He should be salivating in that.
I'LL say "mission accomplished when his sorry bu.tt gets canned from TV.For those who don't watch Keith Olberman's show - he ends each show with " And that's all for this - the 1,685th day since the declaration of mission accomplished. I'm Keith Olberman - Goodnight. "

I'm an independent. Generally, I get fed up equally by both sides. There are a plethora of things I don't like about the Bush administration, but I don't think he's the worst president ever. Same with the Democratic Congress. (As an aside, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Congress passed and Bush will sign a bill increasing fuel standards.) In the same vein, on some issues I lean Republican, on others I lean Democrat, so I refuse to identify myself with a party.
That being said I found Olberman's rant funny because I found it to be rediculous, and pointed it out to Wino when Olberman came up in the thread because as a conservative, thought he might find it amusing. Just as I would do the same if Ann Coulter or Bill O'Reilly came up in a thread and I pointed out how I thought their latest rant was completely ridiculous and pointed it out to a liberal on BN.
Cynical? Perhaps. But bringing this back to Buffett, I take the belief even in politics that if we couldn't laugh we'd all go insane.

Back to the Mitchell Report, Clemens keeps denying he took steroids while ESPN analyst Fernando Vina and Orioles 2B Brian Roberts both admitted to taking steroid (and by using that term I'm lumping anabolic steroids/HGH/the clear/the cream/etc.) use, but in the same vein as Andy Pettitte, Vina claimed it was to get back into playing shape and said he didn't need to take it as a player because he was a speed oriented player. Roberts also took a page from Pettitte's book saying he took it once or twice and realized what he was doing was wrong and stopped.

I used to think of myself as an independent, but the more I listen to each candidate, the more I find the ones best representing my views to be the more conservative thinkers. (NO, "conservative thinker" isn't an oxymoron).jonesbeach10 wrote:And I'll bite back-

So I always seem to end up voting for the Republican candidates because of their conservative views, although I HAVE voted for several Democrats over the years.
I get fed up with both partys too. Especially the way they like to spend money like there's no tomorrow.
One of my favorite sayings is how Democrats spend money like drunken sailors and Republicans spend money like drunken Democrats.
I get upset with President Bush over things too.
Especially his soft stance on illegal immigration and his refusal to pardon those two border patrol agents who are in jail for doing their jobs.
And I have no problem with anyone saying they don't like Bush, they think he's a poor president, they wouldn't ever vote for him again (which makes sense-he's not running for anything), etc.
What REALLY p*sses me off to the moon and back is morons who say he's the worst president ever, but yet, if you ask them, they can MAYBE name FIVE other presidents at most. And they have absolutely NO clue when it comes to history. Worst president ever? They've evidently not heard of guys like Andrew Johnson, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Warren Harding, or even Mr. Richard Nixon.
But DON'T say G.W. is the worst president ever, because if you KNOW or READ any history, you know that he truly ISN'T.
But I guess it gets some of the Hollywood America hating socialist/communists like Michael Moore, Leo DeCaprio, Sean Penn, et. al. a bigger following. Whatever.
As for my heroes like Henry Aaron, Willie Mays, Stan Musial, etc. I DON'T KNOW their political leanings, and I DON'T WANT to know.
I'm a BASEBALL FAN, and when I'd go see those guys play, it was to PLAY BASEBALL, not spout out how they're ashamed to be from the same state, country, etc, as whoever the president is.
I think I read somewhere that Jimmy Buffett is supporting Bill Richardson in the primary. THAT'S GREAT! That's JIMMY! Does he preach his political crap at his concerts? NO! And if he did, I wouldn't go!!!
Just like if I go hear Rudy Guiliani, Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, or whoever give a political speech, I want to hear how they plan to deal with the war on terrorism and islamic extremists, illegal immigration, high taxes, etc. I DO NOT want to hear them sing "Margaritaville." That's not why I go hear them speak.
And I don't go hear Jimmy Buffett (or anybody else) sing just so I can hear what a great guy Hillary Clinton is.
You're a singer? SING! Don't preach politics.
You're a reporter? REPORT! Don't preach YOUR hatred for Mr. Bush.
Now I'm going to print this off and send it to Keith Jackass Olberman.
OH!
And I would vote for Clemens and Bonds to be in the hall of fame.

I have never heard anyone actually say Bush is the worst ever . . . saw a bumper sticker that said it . . . but never heard it out loud.Wino you know wrote:I used to think of myself as an independent, but the more I listen to each candidate, the more I find the ones best representing my views to be the more conservative thinkers.
So I always seem to end up voting for the Republican candidates because of their conservative views, although I HAVE voted for several Democrats over the years.
I get fed up with both partys too. Especially the way they like to spend money like there's no tomorrow.
One of my favorite sayings is how Democrats spend money like drunken sailors and Republicans spend money like drunken Democrats.![]()

I know this has nothing to do with the Mitchell Report but I view W. Bush has a decent president during tough times . . . anyone could have had Clinton's (who I also view as a decent president) approval rating during those 8 years . . . nothing wrong with W. Other than he is not a real good speech giver but that doesn't matter . . . who called him the worst ever? That is just stupid.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

Those who admit are about 50/50 split with either claiming it was HGH for medicinal reasons, or "I just did it once and stopped".
