So many epic songs full of emotion. I could never listen to his work while doing something else... because I always get pulled into the scene he's setting. That's true art.
Put on a good set of headphones and listen to The Reach. Melancholy, history, sadness, adventure... when it's over you'll feel like taking a shower to get the sea salt off.

Renowned musician dies at his Deer Isle home
by Faith DeAmbrose
Nationally famous for his decades of musical genius as a singer, songwriter and musician, Daniel Fogelberg, 56, died in the early hours of December 16 at his home in Deer Isle after a battle with prostate cancer. He had been a seasonal, then full-time resident of the town.
Fogelberg, who came from a musical family, began his musical career at the early age of 11 with a Hawaiian slide guitar and formed his first band at the age of 14. Over the next few decades he would go on to record more than 20 solo albums as well as another two with Tim Weisberg. He also recorded a number of Billboard’s Top Ten hits including Longer and Same Old Lang Syne in 1980 and Hard to Say and Leader of the Band (a tribute to his father) in 1981.
In 2002 Fogelberg was inducted into the Performers Hall of Fame at the Red Rock Amphitheater in Morrison, Colo., along side such legendary greats as Sting, U2, The Grateful Dead, Willie Nelson, Santana and The Beatles.
Diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in May 2004, Fogelberg, soon after, moved full time to Deer Isle with his wife and fellow musician Jean, where they lived a private life until his untimely death.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Fogelberg reached out to his fans and “to each and every man” on his official Web site www.danfogelberg.com, in August 2005, urging regular prostate and rectal testing in an effort to diagnose this form of cancer at an early and treatable stage.
Contributions in Fogelberg’s memory can be sent to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth St., Santa Monica, CA 90401.
