Dan Fogelberg, longtime Buffett friend passes away

Post by Bwana Paul »

Dan Fogelberg, legendary songwriter and performer of classic songs like "Leader of the Band" and "Same Old Lang Syne" has recently passed away after battling prostate cancer. Fogelberg co-wrote Domino College with Buffett and the two were very good friends and fellow sailors. For more information check out http://www.danfogelberg.com
<em>
Dan Fogelberg, the singer and songwriter whose hits "Leader of the Band" and "Same Old Lang Syne" helped define the soft-rock era, died Sunday at his home in Maine after battling prostate cancer. He was 56. His death was announced Sunday in a statement by Anna Loynes of the Solters & Digney public relations agency, and was also posted on the singer's Web site.

"One of my dearest friends is Jimmy Buffett. From his music, people have this perception that he's up all the time, and, of course, he's not. Jimmy has a serious side, too."</em>

A Sad Day...

Post by BambooBreeze »

Along with Buffett, Dan has been one of my favorite musicians and lyricists since 1975. I own all his music and have learned so many of his songs on guitar over the years. It was like he was writing everything going on inside of me all those years. I was so fortunate to see him play live.

This is a sad day...time to open up a few old CD's and listen again.

Fogelberg was one of the greatest of all times.

His voice, his writing. He was really such an incredible music man.

I wonder if Buffett will break out Leader of the Band as an encore this year?

Agreed...in much the same way as he started performing "Everybody's Talking" after Fred Neil passed away.
