The Tiki Bar is Open! MM 84 Holiday Isle still standing

Reports of it's demolition last summer were aparently exagerated.
True, Papa Joes at MM82 is gone, but the entire Holiday Isle complex in Islamorada is open for business.
The developers who bought it failed to find enough individuals interested in purchasing multi million $ condos, and instead are running it as a has- been resort as usual.
No more $80 budget rooms though.
To try to fill the place, $69 is now the going rate!
The Keys are empty still today, but we have'nt ventured further down the road to Key West yet. It's been sunny and warm every day (til today, hence the wi-fi stealing time).
I'm sure Key West is nowhere near this type of fire sale, but for our family's needs (good fishing and kite boarding) it fits the bill.
Hope everybody is enjoying the holiday season.

Key West is PACKED for New Years. If you're coming down, please don't drive like an idiot! I almost got hit four times yesterday when I had the right of way!!
And you won't find anything close to $69 a night, if you can find a room at all!

We just got homethis morning in time to shovel out from the snowstorm.
Never did get to Key West this trip, but made it to MM 39 for some fishing at Sunshine Key.
Never drove like an idiot even once, but as a tourist hauling a utility trailer behind a full size van, I saw my share of impatient idiot locals driving!
Even Holiday Isle filled up by Friday, and the $69 rooms were all bumped up to $250 or more. We moved backwards to Key Largo, and got in just before they were all filled as well.
We'll be back soon!
