To be honest - if I were to go again - I probably would not register.

It is not the cost - it is just that it does not offer much for me as an individual. I am now classified as permanently disabled with my right leg  and as such - events at the CASA where you are not allowed seating would be impossible for me to attend. I did hang out a bit there last year as my friend was required there - but she is no longer living in KW - so that wont be happening again.

And dont jump - I have emailed this point of view to President Jimmy of the PHIP. The club leaders list is full of peoples opinions on the whole thing.

See, IMHO this does not make you a "deadbeat".... I don't understand the vitriol in that email.... The "deadbeats", IMHO, are those who go without paying with the express intention of trying to sneak in. Those folks p*ss me off.

My views on the email were also sent to Pres Jimmy. The club leaders list is very "busy" of peoples views ... so I just sent him an email direct.

I don't have enough energy to get worked up over the email.... It was surprising, though....

If I go, I'll pay. Out of all of the expenses I incur on a trip to KW for MOTM, membership is by far the least. Hell, I pay more for parking at my home airport, and I park in the *cheap* lot.

I will pay, Then cut the damn thing off when I get back to the condo.
I make a point of seeing how long it will last. 2005, lasted until registration of 2006. 2006, made it until July. 2007, did not make it much past Stars. seems like they are getting heavier-duty bands, that aren't as resilient.

I didnt - mine was more directed at putting a stop to filling up my mail box with all the emails from the leaders list ....

That was sent to all people on MOTM list .... but it is now being discussed "in detail" on the club leaders list that is separate.

I got it too and I was kind of surprised at the tone as well, I understood the reason for it but it was a tad nasty. Made me wonder what had happened.

Wait, not yet.
I'm already registered, been invited to join the Yahoo lists for attending, security, gift bag stuffing & I didn't get that email.
C'est la vie.

Actually, it all boils down to one thing: the Casa now sux royally. The new owners made it clear they don't like parrotheads. If the Casa peeps acted the same way they used to, there would be no griping about seats because there WOULD be seats at the concerts there.
And the people who try to sneak in are not cute pirates, they are small-time thieves, stealing from charity, not a big corporation. Good gosh just pay the friggin' $75 dollars....if you can afford to go to/stay in Key West, you can afford to pay it. I'm talking about the people who don't pay with the express intention to sneak into the registered-only events.
I don't think I'm going this year, but I am thinking of registering anyway. Heck, the shirt is always cool and with all this Morris/convention-name stuff, it may be a collectible.
is that shallow of me ? :o
