Unfortunately, after researching it, the location would be here
http://www.theshoreislamorada.com and feels totally "wrong" for us.

I don't think we could ever live in that closely knit a structured "community" and
of course there would be the question of affording association fees and taxes. UGH!
HOWEVER, if we sold it, we might be able to afford something more "us". ;-)

I'll watch the shows and enter to win anyway, since it will be THE KEYS after all!

And this is pretty cool:

The dream home's winner isn't the only one to benefit from the giveaway.
The property is to be open to the public for tours from Jan. 3 to March 2,
with proceeds from the $20 per person ticket cost slated to benefit
the Florida Keys Children's Shelter.

I saw this!!!! I love Islamorada.....so I'll enter. It would be nice to be able to go whenever as opposed to the first two weeks of Nov. when my FIL has his timeshare.

ooohhhh this is awesome!!!

I have followed the dream home each year and I don't think ANY of the winners have been able to afford to keep the home. One guy tried and his taxes added up to something like $9000-$10000 each MONTH!!!

But those who have sold it though have came out making a pretty penny!

Well, I'd try to rent it out enough to cover taxes and such...

but before I'd sell it there would be a heck of a BN party week there!

The structured community's website has exceeded the bandwidth limit.

If they skimp on the bandwidth for the website during a period of such intense interest, I wonder what else the developer skimped on? Roads? Sewers? Construction quality?

... but like Des says, I could always sell it and buy something that fits better. 8)

Nice! The close knit community doesn't bother me one bit as I live in one now.
Gonna have to enter that fa shizzle!

I entered almost every day for the 2007 house. I'll do it again. I think if I win, I'll somehow come up with the tax money and hire a management/rental company of good repute, rent it out, and go down every once in a while.

Who'm I kiddin' ? I'd sell it.

The other houses are pretty damn close, but honestly, how often would they be used? They'll probably be owned by some fat cat who uses the place once a year or so. So most of the time, you'd probably have the run of the place....

Wonder if the homeowner's association allows renting the place out?

Now... anyone know of a place I can win a sailboat to put at the dock? 8)
