If you could only know how unimportant all this seems from outside the US. People are far more concerned about Kenya, the victims of the natural disasters in Asia, problems in Italy and France, drugs being run in from Venezuela, in short, most everything that is truly happening in other places than the American election which is still 10 months away, really. When the real election really comes, that is when to get excited. Y'all are suffering from post Christmas let down.
So, who do you think will be in the Super Bowl?

We must worry about us before we worry about everyone else. It's not to take away from the importance of those other things but its fact.Missing B'dos wrote:If you could only know how unimportant all this seems from outside the US. Do you buy your family what they need before you donate to Kenya or Drug Enforcement in Venezuela? My guess is yes so this is the same principle but on a larger scale. Though the people of the other countries could care less about primaries and what not I trust their governments are keeping an eye on it.
Things are screwed up and people here want to right the ship and now we are trying to figure out how. We don't need to be involved in Kenya or Venezuelas mess right now . . . We're still cleaning in the middle east . . . no one in the world wants us stepping in like that again.
We appreciate your insensitivity and we hope to see you when we make it over to help out Kenya and Venezuela. BTW, Obama mentioned the working to correct the problem in Darfur last night . . . As you can see help is on the way . . . .
The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.
Yeah, the rest of the world might be concerned about those issues, but they don't seem to be doing anything about them. The UN has been around for how long? Where have they reduced suffering? Where have they contributed to the economic/social/political growth of a problem area? The US finally grew a set and broke out of the "negociate with tyrants" mindset and actually moved them out. We are now the bad guy and have minimal support to stabilize either of the regions we cleared out. (appologies to the minor support from the friendlies in Afganistan and Iraq) Instead of the world working together to stabilize two troubled areas, there is more get out talk (which will further destabilize the areas) than help the people of the region defend themselves and self determine their destiny.Missing B'dos wrote:If you could only know how unimportant all this seems from outside the US. I agree the Iowa caucus is insignificant compared to the problems of the world, but maybe while the US is distracted with the selection of their next president perhaps the rest of the world could solve one of the human suffering problems without our interference. Burma is a small nation, how about if the rest of the world starts there. Just talk to those military leaders that are killing and locking up the monks. I am sure a little talking to is all they need to stop the oppression.
Rub yours on me and I'll rub mine on you

There is this to consider... that we have caused much of the suffering and instability, we and other 'empire' nations, since, oh, about 1895 or earlier, by our as you call it 'interference'. We have created many of these modern day leaders, either outright or by our example. We aren't doing a whole lot to help anyone now, or we only help on our terms not as they need it. The UN might have been a great deal more effective over the last few years if we had paid our dues like other nations have.
But my point was, and you missed it, that so far ahead of the actual election, day to day events happening now are more important.

I'd like to say the Cowboys and the Patriots, just so the Boy's can avenge that loss, but the last couple of weeks I haven't been impressed.Missing B'dos wrote:If you could only know how unimportant all this seems from outside the US. Jimmy, simply needs to run for President. Win and impose "Margaritaville Law" on the country. Make sure everyone takes care of the ol' US first and then with what we each have left- SAVE!!!!!! Trust me, with the costs of travel, tickets, shirts and other PH stuff today- you will need the extra money!

Depsite their 50 year history of failure to prevent dictators from taking control, or dealing with them convincingly when they did. Our dues? How come whenever anyone says this they do not take into account the cost of the US military being deployed on UN missions?Missing B'dos wrote:The UN might have been a great deal more effective over the last few years if we had paid our dues like other nations have.
And yet none of the politicians in DC care. The average citizen of this country does. But the media, and the talking heads are only concerned about the power they have, will have gained or lost. And as that is what is important to them, it is what is printed and reported ad nauseum.Missing B'dos wrote:But my point was, and you missed it, that so far ahead of the actual election, day to day events happening now are more important.
