Why no JB on the Juke Box?
Anyone have any answers on why you cant download most of JB tunes? I hope royalties are not the reason since the majority of living artists are available on Touchtunes.

Touchtunes is the internet Juke Boxes you see in many bars. Most artists are on them, but JB is not. He and the Beatles are about the only holdouts. Not up on the Itunes thing, but I understand the Beatles are going to be available there soon, so I would assume that they will be on Touchtunes soon as well.
I guess my question is why everyone else in avaiable here, why isn't JB.

I think we have to also look (sadly) at the fact that most music providers do NOT feel that Jimmy has a big enough draw to justify putting his name into the list of artists on one of these jukeboxes, so they don't want to pay him to do so.
Part of the arrangement depends on the location of the bars themselves.

I was in a place not too long ago that had a sign that would not play
artists on the BMI list..

I wondered about this also. In my local hangout we have a jukebox that has virtually every song and artist known to man (must be one of these Touchtune ones you mention) but no Jimmy Buffett. One night we were throwing money into it, and the barkeep was betting we couldn't come up with a song that it didn't have. I won a free drink after lookin for some Jimmy.
A few days later, after thinking about it, I bet him again I could find some JB on it and he took the bet. " It's 5 O'clock somewhere" was under Allan Jackson. Anyone ever notice free drinks taste so much better than ones you had to pay for?

Well there is a simple reason for that one. It is an ALAN JACKSON song, not a Buffett song.

I AM AN AMERICAN
USA COMES FIRST
THE REST COME LAST
LEARN IT
LOVE IT
LONG LIVE THE USA OR DIE

NO Jimmy on the Jukebox . . . Well then you just get up and sing it yourself . . . what kind of PHans are you!?
I'll likely be doing this tomorrow night as I am pretty confident the Piano Bar I will be attending for New Years will not have Jimmy Buffett in there repitoire(?).

The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.

Seeing that I'm planning on going to a Karaoke party tomorrow night I'd almost guarantee at least SOMEONE will do a JB song (even if it's just Margaritavillemjeischen wrote:NO Jimmy on the Jukebox . . . Well then you just get up and sing it yourself . . . what kind of PHans are you!?

I did karaoke in Japan (karaoke is serious stuff in Japan), and within the room you rent out, there is a giant book you can choose songs from, and to my surprise they were almost ALL American songs, and you wouldnt believe it, JB was in there!Glorfindel7 wrote:Seeing that I'm planning on going to a Karaoke party tomorrow night I'd almost guarantee at least SOMEONE will do a JB song (even if it's just Margaritavillemjeischen wrote:NO Jimmy on the Jukebox . . . Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

It would have had to been 2006 as that was my first ever JB concert (got three under my belt now would love to get at least 3 more within the next year...)mjeischen wrote:With as anxious as you were to Karaoke at my Parrot-Dice Lounge in TInley that does not surprise me.
