Was thinking about buying the Stilleto 2 as a second sirius radio. Does anyone else have one of these and what do you think of it? Have heard good things about it but thought I would ask you fellow parrotheads.

Happy New Year

My Dad has a portable, its not the stiletto 2, but he likes it a lot. I only have the plug and play sportster 4. I dont think I would use a portable enough, i just use my ipod whenever I am on the go and my satellite radio in the car. If you get it, let us know how it is, I am interested to know how everyone else likes them.

I just bought a SC-H1 home tuner that connects to my new Pioneer VSX917V 7.1 digital. So far so good. This is the first Sirius.

I've also been considering a portable Sirius receiver, but was concerned about reception problems.

I've had one Sirius Sportster receiver hooked up to my home stereo for about 1-1/2 years, put the antenna in a west window, and have had great reception. I've replaced the antenna once.

I've had a second Sportster receiver for about 2 years that I move between my two vehicles. Since my vehicles are not garaged I fully understand that the elements will hasten the demise of the rooftop antennas, the weak link of any satellite system. However; I've replaced the one 3 times in the last year alone. I can find no breaks or kinks in the wiring either. One day it's fine (showing 3 bars strength), then next day I get the dreaded "X" with message "Antenna cannot be detected".

Replacing rooftop antennas is getting expensive. Anyone else had this particular problem?

I've only had to replace mine once......BUT buy it on ebay.....I got mine for around $10 shipped....it is a PITA to thread the wires through the car and all that, though....

My 1st puzzle of the New Year - PITA.

I began to wonder what the Treatment of Animals and Pamela Anderson or Greek Flatbread had to do with Satellite Radio and then it dawned on me.

PETA - People for the the Ethical Treatment of Animals
PITA - A Greek Flatbread OR Pain in the A_ _.

That was fun. Thanks Paige!

I misread the title of this thread as Serious Stiletto and rushed in thinking it was about something else. Sorry.

Not really had this problem. I have 2 Sportsters as well, but leave one mostly in my vehicle. I could transfer to the other vehicle if I wanted, but I don't do that much.

I just leave the antenna inside, on the dashboard, kind of down in the space where the front windshield defroster comes out. It works fine there, and it's not exposed to the elements. Only sometimes it comes out, and that would be if I was making a really hard turn...

Well I purchased the stilleto 2 and so far I love it. I have not had it installed in my vehicle yet but did get the home docking station and the reception is great and sound is great. The head phones it come with are a bit bulky but they sound great and have the antenna in them, reception has been no problem with the headphones. Connecting it with wi-fi is very simple. It is a bit expensive but so far worth the price. If you check out TSSradio.com you can get it a bit cheaper and all the accessories you need.

My other radio is the Sportster Replay that radio just keeps on going and going. Although some of the lights on the display have quit working, I have only had to replace the antenna once so far.

Glad to hear that I'm not alone in having antenna problems. If I didn't enjoy listening so much to RM in particular & Sirius in general I'd toss the whole mess away!

While in Newport, RI this fall I rented a Chrysler PT Cruiser that had the Sirius factory radio option. I must admit that the system performed flawlessly. In addition, it was a pleasure not having to "re-tune" the car's radio and Sirius receiver to find the best reception.....

Just curious if any one has tried the new sportster 5 model yet? I have been looking at it and was wondering how it is.

For better reception, use this. http://www.amazon.com/Sirius-FMDA25-Wir ... B000KGLL84

It works great. No more retuning.

I have the stilleto 2 and love it. I only use it at home though to listen to all the concerts live...never thought of using it in the car.

I just rigged my iPod to play in the car, though, and now I'm set. 833 JB songs!

Or another option if you have auxilary jack on the back of your deck you can just buy a cable to connect to the deck and the unit. Reception will never be a problem because it is running straight thru the deck.
