Soldier Field (formerly Municipal Grant Park Stadium) is located on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, Illinois, and is currently home to the NFL's Chicago Bears. It reopened on September 29, 2003 after a complete rebuild (the second in the stadium's history).
The old stadium capacity was 61,500, it's now 74,000

Never hear of Municipal Grant Park Stadium before, having lived in Chicagoland for over 10 years...SMLCHNG wrote:Soldier Field (formerly Municipal Grant Park Stadium) is located on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, Illinois, and is currently home to the NFL's Chicago Bears. When I found the Wikipedia entry, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldier_Field
I see Municipal Grant Park Stadium became known as Soldier Field in 1925... Ahhh! Now it makes sense to me!
And I think that link says the OLD capacity was 74,000, and new capacity is only 61,500.

Y'all should try it just once...LIPH wrote:I don't know, I've never been to Alpine.diverg wrote:So is Alpine the best show to go to in your opinion. Excluding exotic destinations.LIPH wrote:I agree, I want to go to Alpine this year.
It's in the middle of nowhere (it's in Wisconsin), It's a huge venue (~35,000+), and there's nowhere to stay nearby... Closest places are Milwaukee, and the outer north-western burbs of Chicago... Those are at least an hour away... That is after ya get out of the parking lot! Last year it took us 2 hours to get out! They have a specific bottle neck for Highway F! That's what they call their highways in Wisconsin... by lettters!

Alpine is that great to put up with all the hassle? Must be one heck of a tailgate. Is Alpine usually held at the same time each year?gingerbreadman wrote:Y'all should try it just once...LIPH wrote:I don't know, I've never been to Alpine.diverg wrote:So is Alpine the best show to go to in your opinion. Not sure if it was Highway F, but that's for sure what I was thinking!

Alpine can be fun, but watch out for ignorant workers there who like to hassle sober designated drivers.
Personally I think they should have bulldozed the place after August 27, 1990. Why the heads of there let a helicopter take off is beyond my knowings.

One tour, about 10 years ago, he gave the crowd two choices for which song he'd do a few times during the set. Usually a "Song in the Attic" type gem against another more popular song. Guess which usually won. Picture if Jimmy did that and the crowd had to choose between Cowboy in the Jungle and WDWGDAS . . . and Cowboy lost? The tease is worse that nothing at all!

isn't Yankee Stadium due to close this year??LIPH wrote:If he does Fenway and/or Wrigley again, I think I'd probably pass on both of them. I'd rather go see him someplace I haven't seen him before, or someplace I've been to that has better acoustics than a baseball stadium.
Wouldn't that make .. some sense?

But I remember well, that was the place and day where Stevie Ray Vaughan died...

This is the last year for Yankee Stadium but there's no place to tailgate near the stadium and it's not exactly the best part of NYC.ragtopW wrote:isn't Yankee Stadium due to close this year??LIPH wrote:If he does Fenway and/or Wrigley again, I think I'd probably pass on both of them. Then none of us will count on you being there . . . bring on the party!Big Jimmy wrote:maybe 70 with people on the field.Catch&Release wrote:If Jimmy plays a Chicago stadium, I'd guess Soldier Field.
Absolutely no neighborhood issues and way more seats than Wrigley. He can stay right on Michigan Avenue (Maybe the Four Seasons?) and be 5 minutes from the venue/rehearsals while having a ton of stuff to do.
It seats 80,000 plus, doesn't it? Seeing as how he did 2 Gillette shows to end the NE part of the summer tour, I am guessing football stadiums and small faraway shows will be more and more common.
Buffett at SOLIDER would be a disaster.
LSD would be so screwed up from drunks not knowing how to drive on it, and the CPD and the Staties would have a field day with all the DUI's they can get.
The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.
