SAT 5/24, SAT 8/23, SAT 8/30, or SAT 9/13

These dates are reserved for country acts being offered up for the 2008 Country Music Mega Ticket. It's 6 concerts for $175 per piece in the lawn.

Or you can better yourself and spend 650 bucks on a ticket in the first 10 rows.

I've got no use for being that close at country concerts . . . none.

I've got no interest in attending 6 country concerts in my life, not to mention 1 summer...

I used to say the same thing but . . . some aren't so bad. I can do about 2 a year beyond that I lose complete interest. The people watching is totally different in a Jerry SPringer sort of way.

SOME of Jimmy's music... YES. Jimmy's CONCERTS... NO.
I have attended a few (and had a good time at some) but the music just doesn't move me. I have seen some artists that everybody should see (Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash) and a few more that I had no interest in.

If Hagar comes with Chesney then I will be there. Other than that, not interested.

In the hunt for dates here's what I know so far . . .

The First Midwest Bank Ampitheatre is booked for 8/9, 8/23, and 8/30. Leaving 8/2 and 8/16 available. There are no dates scheduled for the venue in June or July yet . . .

Toyota Park (rumored site) is booked for Saturdays in June. July Saturdays include 7/5 and 7/26 August has availability on 8/9 and 8/23 and 8/30.

No dates shown for Alpine Valley yet to compare or contrast . . .

This is clear as mud for me.

I know July-August are the norm. Excluding June of '02 and the Wrigley shows in Sept.

Focusing on July and August though the options begin slimming down for a Saturday show.

Can't imagine that he has--and I don't remember folks complaining right from the start that there were no hotel rooms in Tinley Park.

So yes we do seem to be limiting things some.

On the other hand, he played there in September in 2001, and has played there in June as well.

In any case-----we need a date Jimmy!

So it appears a July 19th rumor has been started for Alpine.

That could mean . . . July 12th OR July 26th for Chicago if he tours as he did last year doing the Midwest in a week. He began at Chicago and ended at Alpine Sat-Sat.

No dates schedule at First Midwest at all in July BUT Toyota PArk is only available the Saturday of the 5th and 26th . . . . .

Toyota Park is still in the mix if that rumor holds true but First Midwest is alot more available.

It could also mean a month off and then returning in August as he's done before bringing us to First Midwest 8/2 or 8/16. Toyota Park is pretty available for Saturdays in August.

Checked out Chesney the other day because people were saying that if you like Jimmy you'll like Chesney but Chesney is country and sounds it. Don't know where people get the tropical beat out of his twang but each to his own I suppose.

Most of his early stuff has a definite country flavor to me. Steel guitars and the like on A1A and earlier albums give it the country feel. They are great albums but, I like steel drums better than the steel guitars.

Kenny's current tour name: Poets and Pirates
His subject matter of beaches, babes, boats, and the like mirror Jimmy almost identically. Thats where the similiarities come in.

The sounds are very different but there aren't to many Kenny songs I can't see Jimmy singing. IN FACT one of Kenny's favorite songwriters is . . . Mac MacAnally . . . the Coral Reefers very own.

Back Where I Come From is a Chesney hit . . . thanks to the writing of Mac.

It's an interesting weave of similiarities and "cultures". Some say Kenny "rip-off" Jimmy and I can see that. Some just take them both for what they are an enjoy them.

I still think he is a rip off Jimmy. Yeah, his new CD is Poets and Pirates and nothing on that CD references the title or anything about it. Chesney is at his best when he is the 'ultimate frat boy', singing Keg in the Closet or tunes that relate to mostly to the college crowd. He becomes a bigger hit when he combines his so called "looks" with a dreamy sun set feel - though his music does a terrible job of giving that feel in my opinion. I don't mind Chesney when he sticks to country, but when he drifts to the beach he loses me. In my books he's only a K-Mart version of Jimmy.

Hopefully we'll start hearing some strong rumors, or even hard dates this week!!!

Getting all my "spring cleaning" stuff done this week, leaves me more time to drink on the patio when the thaw happens!
