LSU is not Kent State or Akron or Illinois for that matter.
Too many gamers (Lester,Dorsey,Flynn,Perrilloux) so I'm going with them
& I don't think it will be close. A close game would be great though.
This is the first BCS title game that I have not really cared about but hey, it's football.

I didn't mean to imply that LSU was a Kent State, Akron, or Illinois...far from it.sonofabeach wrote:LSU is not Kent State or Akron or Illinois for that matter.

I meant to imply I hope OSU makes a better showing than B.G.S.U. did in last night's GMAC Bowl...which was U.G.L.Y.

NO OSU alum is ever allowed to, ever again, introduce themselves as being from THE Ohio State University.
If they ever went to class, they would know that the emphasis should not be on the "The".
They'd know it should be on "SI" in University
Seriously. If they wouldn't use that stupid "THE", I would like them so much more. They're not Michigan, but I still don't want them to win. Being a PSU alum, I'll never hear the end of it......inedible useless nuts win the BCS. sigh.
So I'm rooting for LSU, but it's not looking good thus far.....

Another year, another title goes to the SEC!
Say what you want, but the SEC is the toughest, and best conference! 7-2 in bowl games this year, two of the wins being BCS games!
The SEC will be even stronger next year, specially the East side of the conference!
Congrats to OSU for another great season!

Someone forgot to tell LSU that OSU only allows 10 points/game.....where did they put that memo?
Seriously, I watch Big 10 football quite regularly and OSU has a stellar defensive team. But, for some reason, they simply cannot shutdown SEC teams.
Hats off to LSU on their well deserved champiosnhip. However; I must admit I'd now love to see an LSU/USC game played.....

OK, I guess I had that coming! I agree.....SEC football is a different world.....more good teams top to bottom!!...you look at other conferences and you have 2-3 top teams!!!....last nights game started out sorta like last years....OSU with the quick TD( last year KO return)....i would love to see a USC / LSU match up!!PHnSC wrote:Another year, another title goes to the SEC!

Here in Michigan, our discussion was do you pull for your hated rival to win the National Championship for your conference sake or lose the championship. I'd say the call was close to 50/50.
My opinion is.......Ohio State is my most hated rival......not the SEC. I don't want my most hated rival flashing the championship rings/hardware in my face...........I think the more hardcore fan you are of your team the more you take this approach.......so I WAS on the LSU bandwagon. That being said, while I didn't want the Luckeyes to win, for conference sake I didn't want them to get embarassed either.
My take on the game. After a fast start, OSU served this game to LSU on a platter. With a 10-3 lead LSU marched down the field to even it up at 10-10. On that drive, the Buckeyes commited a big 15 yard late hit penalty and a big personal foul facemask penalty which accounted for another 13 yards. That's 28 free yards that a good team takes advantage of.
After LSU tied it up, OSU marches down the field and despite ANOTHER 15 yard unsportsman like conduct penalty has an opportunity to take a Touchdown lead when Robiske drops a pass in the end zone after beating his man. The Bucks then had their FG attempt blocked and instead of having what should have been a 17-10 or 13-10 lead they were still tied and gave LSU the ball in good field position which the Tigers took advantage of to capture the lead they would never relinquish.
With a 2 score lead at the half, LSU was in great shape but it was still a ball game. Bucks "D" comes out in the 3rd quarter and does the job forcing a punt. But a roughing the punter penalty gives the Tigers new life!
After that, aided by yet another 15 yard unsportman like penalty the Tigers tack on the crushing TD to go up 31-10 and for all purposes make this a game that leaves no room for error for the Buckeyes.
Tressel SHOULD have fed Wells the ball more. His 20 carries were not enough. With the success he had he should have gotten 25-30 carries!
LSU only ended up with 326 yards, not a great sum, but the 80+ penalty yards absolutely KILLED the Buckeyes.
I credit the Buckeyes for being in a game they had no business being in after all the NFL defections last year. With a little better play from Boeckman & a little poise from their players this game would have been nail-biter.
Of course I credit the Tigers for taking advantage of the Buckeye mistakes and the fact that this game was in their backyard. Once they got big Mo on their side they kept they're foot on the gas and didn't go conservative (although it almost cost them when Flynn threw the pick to get OSU back in the game at 31-17).
Congrats to my bud phreddyphishstick down in Baton Rouge! Hopefully he's not hung over this morning and his employer CAN get an honest day's work from him!!!
