When I was a kid, the National League had several of those cookie-cutter stadiums, all with artificial turf. Tonight will be the first game the Phillies haven't played on natural grass all season. :o

Not a matter of no respect. Tampa is the fad team for people to love right now. They're just the better story-line. Doesn't mean they'll win....but they'd better!!!

That's why it's nice that everyone here has known for years that I'm a Rays fan. I hate being accused of band-wagon jumping.

Jose Canseco , the juiced-up home run slugger who stands 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, and Danny Bonaduce, the former "Partridge Family" star who's 5-foot-6 and 165 pounds, have agreed to square off on Jan. 17 as part of a Celebrity Boxing Federation bout. Canseco is swearing to flatten his opponent in the first round, but Bonaduce boasts to Philadelphia Daily News gossip Dan Gross, "The bigger they are, the harder they fall." -- NY Post

I say... throw down that ladder, cuz I'm hoppin' on board!

Before the playoffs started, I still could only name 5 players on the Rays' roster.
This season turned out to be a real turn-off from my view in SD  :-?

I'm not a fan of making the anthem "your own" either...but I do like this version:

Some World Series Anthem trivia --

Prior to the '68 W.S., the Tigers asked Ernie Harwell (he's also a pretty good songwriter) to find an anthem singers for the games in Detroit. For Game 5 he chose an up-and-coming Latino star, Jose Feliciano. Jose and his guide dog headed out to the field and did a heartfelt rendition of the anthem that wouldn't even raise an eyebrow today. But it caused quite the furor in the late 60s, and Harwell feared he would be fired amid the controversy.

"He wanted to sing an anthem of gratitude to a country that had given him a chance; who had allowed a blind kid with a dream reach far above his limitations, far beyond the expected to a place few at his young age, had achieved. He wanted to sing an anthem of praise to a country that had given a better life to him and his family."

This link tells the story much better than I did -- Jose's thoughts from his website: http://www.josefeliciano.com/anthem.html

DAMB LB!

First it's Obama. And NOW YOU ROOT FOR A TEAM THAT HAS A DH IN THE LINE UP   :o :o

What's not to love about Philly Baseball? Can't you take a walk down memory lane and think of all the great and not so great Philly's of the past? Schmidt, Rose, Kruky and Van Psycho just to name a few. I know, the DH is Obama's way to make baseball "fair" for the non performers :P

Good game, Phillies. Lidge has been lights out all year, especially in the playoffs.
