You can blame Charlie Monfort for this...wish the Monfort's would sell to someone that understands how baseball teams work

It'll be interesting to see how leaving Denver and the altitude affects Holliday's stats. And I think Oakland's a bigger ballpark too, so that won't help.

I think it's going to be the bigger ballpark that's the bigger factor. I don't have the stats to back it up, but it seems like the humidor the Rockies installed a few years negated the high altitude of Denver and the higher than normal offensive numbers. Holliday's a tremendous hitter, I think he'll do fine in Oakland.

Tonight I just need my guitar

Who are the Rockies getting back!!!...I haven't heard that part yet!!
It's not been finalized.. isn't supposed to be till Monday..
According to the report, the Rockies would possibly receive left-handed starting pitcher Greg Smith in the deal. Smith, 24, was 7-and-16 with a 4.16 earned run average, 111 strikeouts and two complete games in 32 starts and 190.1 innings for the A's in 2008.
The Athletics have also been considering offers for closer Huston Street, who could bolster a bullpen which is expected to lose the services of Brian Fuentes, whom the Rockies will likely lose as a free agent.
The Rockies had long coveted pitcher Justin Duchscherer, but his name had not surfaced as being involved in a potential deal in any published reports.

Why did anyone vote for Jerry Manuel? The choke wasn't as bad this year as under Willie Randolph last year, but the f'n Mets are still the f'n Mets and they choked again.

Because they wouldn't have had the opportunity to choke again if they had stuck with Randolph?

Gardenhire gets 2-year extension from Twins to ‘11
MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—The Minnesota Twins have signed manager Ron Gardenhire to a two-year contract extension through the 2011 season.
Despite trading ace Johan Santana, the Twins went 88-75 and nearly made the playoffs, losing a tiebreaker to the Chicago White Sox for the AL Central title.
Gardenhire has led the Twins to four division titles in seven seasons, and the team has finished with a winning record six times.
Minnesota also re-signed pitching coach Rick Anderson, bench coach Steve Liddle and the rest of Gardenhire’s top staff.
