Jeremy Affeldt signs with the Giants for 600,000.
Sounds like the kind of splash I'd expect from the Giants
When is the Yankees/Sabathia presser?

When is the Yankees/Sabathia presser?

From what a friend of mine overheard a few weeks ago, when he was at a bar that Sabathia showed up at (and drank a ton of whiskey at)....
Sabathia doesn't want to sign with the Yankees. His agent wants him to, because the money will be the best, but CC would rather avoid the Bronx.

I wouldn't be so surprised if a West Coast team (Giants) makes an offer.
He's from the Bay Area, he's expressed a desire to come home, and you can always find him at the Raiders games

Unless I'm adding wrong, the totals on that voting table look like one writer left Pedroia off his ballot. I only count 27 votes for him.

That's right. From baseballwriters.org:
"Morneau and Youkilis were the only players named on all ballots."
crazy

I heard this morning the Giants were talking about making a run at Manny or him, but they'd have to get rid of Zito first. I'd rather have CC.
Congrats to Dustin....

I just have trouble believing that Josh Hamilton didn't get more support. Sure, he faded in the second half, but his overall numbers were every bit as good as the guys ahead of him. He just played on a crappy team. But so did Pujols, and he won the NL award.

Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik is naming A's bench coach Don Wakamatsu as the Mariners new manager.
The immediate impact of the move is that nobody in Seattle will be calling into Sports Talk radio to complain, because nobody knows how to pronounce Zduriencik or Wakamatsu...

In winning the MVP award, Dustin Pedroia was named on 27 of the 28 American League MVP ballots. The one writer to leave Pedroia off? That was Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, a well-respected member of the Baseball Writers Association of America, the organization that votes on awards.
Grant voted for Kevin Youkilis first, followed by the Angels' Francisco Rodriguez and the Twins' Justin Morneau.
"I think the best way for me to sum it up is, in retrospect, obviously I was wrong," Grant said by phone.

Remember, in 1947, Ted Williams lost the MVP voting by a single point. The writer from BOSTON, Earl Webb, who had a famous feud with the Splinter, did not even include Williams on the ballot. A 10th place vote would have won Williams the MVP over Joe DiMaggio.

I have a feeling getting Ramon Martinez is setting up another trade for a catcher!!!....but not a bad trade!!!...listening to WEEI out of Boston...Coco's value wasn't that high!!...but they did get a quality reliever for him!!
