If You Had Jimmy Over for Dinner....

Post by Bfan53 »

What would be on your menu?
> Drinks
> Appetizers
> Main Course
> Dessert

And, after dinner, what would your conversation be about?

Hey, we can dream, right? Let your imagination run wild......

Trust me, if Jimmy said he's coming, there would be no further invitations extended....... Does Chesney have a habit of crashing dinner parties?

Great choice! Would you maybe start by offering a nice bowl of gumbo? And then mention the possibiity of a few backstage passes for the upcoming concert season?

Probably gin and tonics waiting to start....then I would probably have wine to match what I serve. 8) Probably shrimp and grits for appetizers then crab cakes with fried green tomatoes and cole slaw. Caramel creme brulee with fresh raspberries for dessert. (all homemade of course :D )

Of course, I would serve this for anybody that appreciates southern cooking! [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

My husband would want to talk fishing, but I would want probably want to know....what ya doing this year? Actually his keets and ours are about the same age....I don't think we would have worry about lack of conversation.

First I'd ask him if he had any preferences or anything he didn't care for.

If there were none, it'd be:

Clam chowdah (clear or white, none of that red stuff)
Stuffed Quahogs (aka Stuffies, aka Stuffed Clams. Welcome to Rhode Island)
LOBSTAH with drawn butter
Fresh corn on the cob
Strawberry shortcake

A nice white wine with dinner. Beer, wine, cocktails as desired before and after.

Mr. SGH is a boatbilder. I'd bet my next paycheck the discussion topic would be boats.

let see...
probably would make something I enjoy cooking/preparing

prosciutto and cantaloupe drizzled with olive oil
a nice salad with fresh baby greens, balsamic vinegar dressing
perhaps a small bowl of gazpacho if it's summer or butternut squash soup if it's winter
fresh fish-- whatever is in season, fresh and wild-caught. like flounder in the summer and Rock in the winter. grilled simply with some S&P and maybe a little buttah for good measure. some roasted veggies on the side.
for dessert something like key lime pie or chocolate cake home made of course.

and some good red wine.

I'd set down a Landshark Lager, and a margarita made with Margaritaville Tequila and Margaritaville margarita mix and make him put his money where his mouth is. [smilie=puking.gif]

Thanks! I spent a ton of time making that in photoshop and you're the first to ever comment on it. :D

You say "be nice" but have you ever tried Margaritaville tequila and mix together? I hardly consider it a quality drink even after cutting it some slack for the pre-made mix. Haven't actually tried Landshark since I hate beer, but I hear the bottle makes an excellent paper weight.

Well it kind of depends on everything but right at this moment in time and place . . .

Chili (Midwesterners Gumbo make it as hot as he wants)
Homemade Cornbread

Beer
The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.
