Mt Laurel, New Jersey and Philadelphia - What's Fun There?

Post by Catch&Release »

I need to go to Mt Laurel, New Jerzzzzee the 1st weekend of Feb for work. Work will take 3 hours and I am gonna stay Sat night to keep fare low.

What's fun to do in Mt Laurel? I've never been to Philly. Other than the historical sites, what is fun to do in Philly!

Thanks!
I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.
Too much for me, too much for me
I've got to be where the wind and the water are free.

There isn't too much to do in Mt. Laurel, for Philly info, I will leave that to the people who live in Philly.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Drive to Atlantic City and parlay the money you saved. Tell us what you are looking for, obviously there is daytime historical site seeing. Google philly tourism, you should find some useful info there.

Hotels in Philly offer a 2 night stay for the price of one

There is a tall ship sail every friday at 7:00 pm www.citysail.org (not sure about Winter)

Battleship New Jersey

South street (quite interesting sites here, get a cheesesteak at Jim's.)

Natl Constitution center

Great Art Museum

www.gophila.com

We will be away in Hawaii Feb 1-10th or I would offer to meet you for a drink.

Have fun.

There's a Hooters in Cherry Hill just down the road.
You can drive round and round in a traffic circle.
You can watch towel-heads pump your gas for you.
Face it buddy, you're in New Jersey and it's not summer. :pirate:

And learn what the term "jughandle" really means!

I thought the battleship New Jersey was in Camden? I'd go to Philly, have a kickin' cheesesteak sammich and hope it's not snowing!

It's on the Delaware between Philly and New Jersey.

Penn's landing ferry will take you right to it

Here's a couple of places for food & drink that we like when we go to Philly:
Go to the City Tavern, sit in the little "bar" and have a City Tavern Cooler (it's gots sum Appleton in it!), hit Lorenzo's for pizza on South Street (floppy, big pizza); have a drink at the original Bookbinders, visit the Ritz Carlton lobby--it's beautiful & stroll around the Rittenhouse Square area. Hmmm.. that's all I can think of.
"Clive!! The cooler!!" -- CDIII aboard the Shamwari, BVI.

Thanks, everyone.

I'm looking forward to trying a real cheesesteak. Hopefully the weather will be not horrible! Wish the deposition was in the spring as I've always wanted to fish the famous shad run on the Delaware. Oh well, I'll gladly settle for a cheesesteak or a trip to the Hooters in Cherry Hill.

I'd also like to see Princeton or U Penn , so I'll have lots of time to do that.

The most I know about Jersey I learned from watching Harold and Kumar...Guess I should also add a trip to White Castle on my culinary tour of Philly/South Jersey. :D

I LOVE BAHAMA BREEZE! The closest one is 200 miles from home...I can go there and pretend I am back in Anguilla...I just wish they'd stuck to their initial menu which had real Caribbean items like plantains and ackee (as well as Kalik beer from the Bahamas)
:D

Absolutely City Tavern, and have a bucket of steamers!
And, if there are carriages to take you on a ride through the Historic district, take one. Tisn't New Orleans, but hey!
It used to be just lovely to visit the historic sites, but no, we won't go there... they've packaged everything...anyway...
Well, you can go to northern Jersey, to the British-owned Ship Inn, a popular brew pub, where my brother in law just happens to be the chef. I am sure he would make something excellent for you!
"Oh, oh, all I want to know, is are you kind?"
