Neither do I. Can't stand NE, but it's not a popularity contest.

I just think they'll win, unfortunately.
if i was a betting man ....yes they are the logical pick to win...but i can hope!!

That's why I just don't bet on my home sports teams (or any others) anymore.
My heart is with my hometown, naturally, but if I were to throw money down on the game ....

This upcoming game is a good example.
Smart money tells me go with NE. How do you argue against their record?
But that has no bearing on my true sports loyalty.
I don't want my wallet to dictate whether or not I'm enjoying a game... just not worth it.
Those I know who bet against the home team, just really aren't
true fans of their "home" team.

Yep. That's why you'll never hear me say at anytime during any season (of any sport) that my Denver/Colorado team will win.

Going against any team (or Senator) from Boston seems to be the unconventional thing to do around here, so I'm picking the Chargers.

touchét Penny
It's always a little tough to see your rival team get a little closer to the big dance
I seem to recall something happened back on October 1st of last year

but it's like another blackout to me now...

Well, Glenn is a Boston native so where does his alliance lie next week?

There's a little home town sentiment there too-Nate Kaeding (Chargers kicker) is an Iowa Hawkeye alum.
One of his relatives works in the same building as me.

I've grilled him on that question before!
He's a lifelong Red Sox/Celtics/Bruins fan, but he's always made Chargers his #1 NFL team. I tell you this because he would be, or would've been, at Players Sports Grille,
the total New England sports bar here in SD, if he REALLY gave a **** about the Pats over many recent years
It'll be interesting for sure... there's a LOT of NE transplants and roots here in SD
(my mom is from Gloucester MA, but she knows when it's SD vs. NE, SoCal wins out!)

I have spent some time in SD, my second favorite city in the country. I hung out with Glenn for a night on my last trip. I asked him what he would do if it was ever a Padres - Red Sox World Series.... I think he said the Sox would get his rotting interest but I never asked about the Patriots. I don't mind the Chargers at all but I really can't stand Phillip Rivers, for someone who has not accomplished anything yet he has a big mouth and he seems like a punk.
What about the Junior Seau angle in SD, is that a story there at all?

It will certainly grow in interest this week, with his sports restaurant and all.
We're kinda ticked at him for signing back the Chargers the other year, just so we could throw a dignified retirement party for him...
and he turns around and signs in NE the VERY next day.
He has got a big-time chip on his shoulder with our GM, A.J. Smith for cutting him 4 years ago at camp. He was finished up then!! IMO, he's hardly a big part of why NE is a great team now...
Like I said... a LOT of interesting angles are gonna emerge

Oh, and GO PATS!!!

After the Chargers win today, I think this game will be closer than a lot think, but I don't see the Patriots losing to San Diego, even though I will be rooting for them. Honestly, the only teams I thought that a legitimate shot at beating NE were Indy, Green Bay, and maybe Dallas if Romo got hot (and I don't mean going to Cabo) and TO and Terry Glenn were in midseason form. I think the key is finding a way to stop Moss AND Welker AND Caldwell AND Stallworth AND Gaffney AND Watson AND Maroney AND Faulk on 3rd down. They're all guys you have to think about and prepare for since any of them can kill you.

Why should i!!!......This was a Giants state way before the Patriots were good.....and still pretty much is...but a few fell theough the crack!!...They never had them on TV here!!!!...people jumped on the bandwagon here!!!....and i guess a lot of CT people dislike the Pats is...Kraft used the City of Hartford to get his Stadium!!...not that i ever believed they would leave the Boston Market!!!!...but people bought into it!!

It's clear the Chargers are more invested in their winning streak than the Patsys

and,
is a team of higher character

Just compare QB's...
Philip is a good husband to his college sweetheart and father of three beautiful little girls
Tomcat Brady runs around with trollips and barely aclnowledges his bastard child
It's clear, the San Diego Chargers are destined to advance to the Super Bowl

Not sure if you are kidding or not but I really hope that you are . . .
Who cares? Seriously. If you are watching sports to only talk about what these guys do in their private lives then you need to get one for yourself . . .
First of all . . . the media has people trained like sheep . . . you have no idea what Rivers does in his private life . . . none. Gee, a bunch of young millionares on the road half the year . . . hmmmmmm? Sad. I couldn't drop to sh*ts on Chesney's front lawn over people's private lives . . . its all about football . . . all that matters to me is what Brady does this coming sunday . . .
(and if some of you extreme thread argument folk bring up guys who beat their wives or take part in dog fighting then ask if I care about them just stop . . . please.)

Except when their leading sacker gets busted for taking roids. Yeah great example of character. When LT was bashing the Pats as having no class I think you could just make out Merriman in the background taking a couple of pills.

How can yo be against a team called the Patriots. It's . . . It's . . . Un-American.

Wino . . . ?
No one around here likes Boston.
Me. and perhaps Rum . . .
We have guys who live/ work in Boston (Aero) who are Redskins fans . . .
Guys in CT (Tommy) who hate all things Boston . . .
And who likes Ted Kennedy or John Kerry? Not me. Not ever.
(and the HGH argument has got to go . . . half or more of the league has done it so lets leave Merriman and Harrison out of it . . . getting old and it doesn't matter.).
