Can they both lose? And then just have the NFC champion scrimmage for the Super Bowl?

As I listen to talking head after talking head moan and groan about SD being in this game that they were "Cheated" on a Colts/Pats rematch. To that I say; Deal with it!

Also in hearing all this one-sided prognostication it does remind me of those same talking heads in 2002 when they said the Patriots had no chance against "The Greatest Show On Turf". Some Pats fans have a short memory or maybe they were not Pats fans when #11 started the season as the #1 QB. Just food for thought

I think that the Chargers have a legit chance . . . just look at those linebackers!

And I have been a season ticket holder before Mr. Brady became Mr. Brady.

Not many people up here are talking about being cheated of a Colts-NE rematch. The feeling here is the Patriots already beat Indy so been there done that.

I remember in 2002 when no one gave NE a chance to beat the Rams but comparing that to this game is apples and oranges. This is a home game for NE, Belichick is 20 times a better coach than Turner and Brady and the WR's are the best in the NFL.

I think SD could win but they would need a few turnovers and some scores or good field position from their special teams.

I'm pretty sure who ever scores more points will win the game.....I'm not sure, can someone double check for me?

That's crazy enough to work!

Also heard an interesting trend in the AFC.
It seems that the past few SB winners had disappointing play-offs the year before. Pittsburgh lost to NE in 2005 after going 15-1 during the regular season, but went on to win the SB the next year.
In 2006 Indy had a disappointing loss to 6 seed Pittsburgh, but won the Super Bowl in 2007.
Last year, it was San Diego that had the disappointing loss, blowing the big lead to the Patriots.

So who know? Maybe this year it's San Diego's turn.

Well, there is another way to look at it. Yes San Diego had a disappointing postseason last year but the Patriots also lost the AFC Championship game last year by 4 AND gave up their first half lead. So by your argument, this game would qualify no matter who won.

None of that matters.

No more than the previous trend of 5 SB winners (Rams, Ravens, NE, TB, NE) who missed the playoffs the previous year.

Just a trend . . . which obviously could be broken in 15 days.

So, for the record . . .

If I were a betting man . . . which I am not . . . but if I was I would bet on the Chargers today WITH the 14 point spread . . . but I would take the Patriots without the spread . . .

I really do hope LT, Gates, Merriman, and Rivers are healthy and play. I want to see the best possible game . . . as much a homer as I am; I don't want the Pats to get a gimmee because of Bolts injury.

With Merriman, Phillips, Cooper, and Wilhelm at Lineback . . . and Mcree and Hart out there at Safety with Jammer and Cromartie at Corner there is no reason to think that the Bolts are not worthy of being in this game as alot of people think.

Hoping for a good game.

Good Morning AFC Championship fans :D :D :D

It looks like it's a balmy 22ยบ in Foxboro and we're ready for blood!... bloody mary's , that is!! 8) :P

It will be a tough battle. Pats should feel like they're in the drivers seat, they've had a GREAT season.
For the Chargers to win, we'll need turnovers, and a game plan just like last week's.
Pound 'em with the run, key catches by the WR's, keep Brady off the field, and keep the score close.

I'd like to see this play down to the last minute with Bolt defense triumphing on a 4th down stop. Chargers win 24-21 8) :D :D :D

LET'S GOOOO SAN DEEE-AYYYY-GO!!!

Those poor Chargers.
It's half time, and for some reason, they still think they have a chance to win this game.

SD nine points down with 3:30 left. Pats have the ball driving and eating up clock. I hear the fat lady warming up her singing voice.
