Norv Turner you are such an idiot . . .
roughly 9 minutes to go in the game! Your team is on roughly the 35 yard line . . . and you punt!

Well . . . roughly 9 minutes later the game is over because YOU just gave the ball back to the best offense in football, Dolt!

Pat's defense is old. You had them worn down. AND YOU PUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THERE IS YOUR SEASON NUMB NUTS . . .

As a die hard Pats fan I applaud the Chargers . . . but not you Norv. Biggest mistake of your career . . .

I was surprised at that too.
I definately would've went for it, but, then again, I'm not the one running the team.

it should be considered routine. AFC Championship . . . oldest Linebackers in the NFL (Pats) go for it! At the very least the Pats have the ball on roughly the 35 . . . why punt. Can't think of 1 reason.

Norv had to realize that Brady . . . Bellichick and co. could put together a drive that would take time of the clock (atleast half of the 9 remaining minutes) . . . it was already a two score game for the Bolts . . .

it was just a huge mistake. nothing more or less.

Even if the Patriots would've only gotten a field goal on that drive, the game would've, in effect, have been over.
Damn right he should've went for it.

It'll give him something to think about from now tp September.

who believed that Norv Turner pulled LT after 2 carries because he thought LT sucked (as reported on CBS who said it was a coaches decision) ...no one, clearly LT was hurting.....

We were chatting (Jon and I) during the game via text and I was thinking the same thing but it was too much to type at tat time (because of too many drinks) ..... but why punt???? I couldn't believe it. You are two scores down and have the ball inside the Patriots 40??? what do you gain by punting, 15 yards in filed position?

Two ways to look at this game:

A) LT was OUT, Gates was limited and Rivers was very limited and NE had to fight for their life to win.......

OR

B) Brady sucked big time, Moss was contained and SD was able to move 10 yards at will on offense and NE was lucky to win.......

My view, after the first series when LT came out and Jim Nance said LT was of because of a "Coaches Decision" LT was hurt, it wasn't a coaches decision! As I texted Jon during the game, if your SD why thrown deep, the 10 yard passes are working, be patient and you ca drive the ball. But Rivers' wanted to throw deep and he was picked off twice.

The Patriots D saved them, or should I say the old washed Patriots D! The fact that Seau had two HUGE plays in this game, I thought of the fans watching the game at "Seaus" in SD! The Patriots D stood stiff (sounds sexual  ) when it mattered most and held SD to 4 FG's.

The bottom line (as Ray Lewis says) is the Patriots traded TD's for FG's and won! :D

But SD played great, this was the first game all season that I really felt the Patriots were in trouble, Brady looked lost at times out there and who would have thought the old washed up Patriots D would save Brady's ass.

PS
I still have 6 Super Bowl Squares left :P

As much as a mistake it was for Norv to punt (which was a HUGE mistake), some of the blame falls on the SD defense for not stopping the Pats once on 3rd down. I know the Patriots milking the clock at the end of the game is nothing new, San Diego should have gotten the ball back at some point.

Ditto on the "good clean game"
Watching my other fave, the Packers.

So far both hard fought games. Football played outside in the cold as God intended it!

I'm not surprised at Turner's decision. Thought he was an idiot but not surprised.

aaaaaarrrrrggggggghhhhhh :( :( :( :( :(

well, I'm back from our viewing party and
that was a great, tough game with the victory going to the deserving team

losing LT so early was more of a surprise, thought Rivers would be more of the question mark.
After such a strong defensive start, we could feel the air leaking out when Seau stuffed our go-ahead drive.
Just like last week vs. JAX, you can't beat the Patriots kicking FG's instead of finishing with TD's.
Norv asked his defense to hold one time too many, and they were just wore down by the end. That last possession was too much.
Kevin Faulk just finished us off with such clutch 3rd down conversions.

We end our season holding our heads high, as this wasn't the lopsided affair that was predicted by SO many.
Next year, I'll take the same matchup but hosted in a warmer, more hospitable climate of SD 8) :P

They didn't lose LT, it was a coaches decision to take him out

I was shocked at how well Seau played today, when he got that first sack I thought, I wonder what the reaction to that was at Seau's in SD! It was nice to see the Patriots D come up big.

How ironic that they play the Giants again, the team they beat to go 16-0 they now play looking to go 19-0.

Turner punting down by 9 inside the NE 40 with less than 9min left was a very questionable move esp. considering SD never touched the ball again.

Patriots are the better team and deserving ly won...i thought the Chargers played well enough to win...but you can't kepp kicking field goals and giving up touchdowns!!......another thing...I think in the 2nd half Rivers hurt them by being in there...he had no mobility and was a sitting duck most of the time!!!...and you can see with some of his passes he just couldn't plant and throw!!
