Cheap Disney Tickets

Post by UpstateNYPH »

Taking the girlfriend to Disney in March (she hasnt been since she was a little kid), and was wondering if anyone knew of a way or any secrets to get discounted/cheap park tickets. Was given a 2-day park hopper pass by a family member, so we will split that and are looking to buy a 3-day park hopper pass. Any ideas??? 8)

When you say you are going to split the 2 day ticket, what exactly do you mean?

If you go listen to timeshare BS, they give free tickets, but that pretty much wastes a day.

Not sure you can 'split' a park hopper??
You need to check before you get there.

When we were there last, they were finger scanning with the tickets and said the tickets were only good with that fingerprint. I can't verify that is true, just what they told us. Only one person can use the ticket per day.

I don't know about the fingerprinting stuff, but you might be able to find some on Craigslist (such as one day left of a three-day pass or something).

Lets say that I use one day of the 2 day park hopper ticket the first day, and the rest of the days i use my 3 day park hopper. then lets say the first day she uses her 3 day ticket, then the next day i give her the 2 day hopper, which would have one day remaining from when i used it the previous day. then the last two days she can sue her 3 day ticket again. sound confusing?  Kudos to those who understand.

I heard about the fingerprinting, but also heard from my sister who was there a couple weeks ago that they really dont care and motion you through anyways. Plus, if I am with her and she is using the ticket the second day, cant I just say, oh I gave her that ticket here is my fingerprint. Ticket has still been paid for, who cares who uses it. :-?

Yeah, I heard of that, but we are only spending four days there so that would not be an option...

Years ago I was able to purchase discounted multi-day tickets through AAA. Not sure if they still do that.

Also, some property owners and property mgt companies offer discounted tickets if you stay in their facilities. Condo rental (or villa rental if you have a big family) is a good option for those who don't want to pay a premium price for lodging on Mickey's turf.

Now I get it!  I took it as you were only getting the (1) 2 day and (1) 3 day to split!

Just be careful . . . I've heard of problems when tickets from one person are passed to another. They are non-transferable and they could keep you out of the park if you're caught.

That's the same problem with buying off Ebay. I think I used this site my last trip: http://www.undercovertourist.com/ and had no problems.

Check out a few of the Disney sites for more details/hints:

OK---that makes sense, but sure not sure about the thumbprint precaution. I know they take our thumbprint, just not sure how close they check on each ticket.

Glad to offer some help! We go to Disney 2-3 times a year. No, you cannot split tickets. You can upgrade them and apply what you have towards another ticket with longer days, water parks, etc. If you plan on going to more than 1 park per day you will need the park hopper option on each ticket. That will cost you about $40 more per ticket. You cannot swap or share tickets. They do the finger scan thing. If your fingerprint does not match the one that was initially used the first time with that ticket you will get rejected.
If you Google Disney park tickets you will come up with a wide array of prices. Be sure to compare prices and shipping charges. I believe we got our last tickets thru Maple Leaf tickets. Good luck and have a great time at Disney!!!! Be sure to go to JellyRolls at Boardwalk. It is the best piano bar and we have a blast! Also, ESPN at Boardwalk has the best hot wings. That is all we get when we go !

If Ticketmaster implemented this process to prevent scalping of JB tickets, you would be all for it, right?

It is a little strange I agree. :-? It's a govermnet conspiracy!!

We will be staying at Old Key West resort, FYI, if anyone has any opinions on renting a car vs using disney transportation. I heard that Old Key West is kind of out of the way, and sometimes the Disney transportation can take a long time. With only 4 days there, I want to maximize our time!

Thanks for the info, we will buy separate four day park hoppers then.

Granted, this info is old (2003) but when I was searching for the best discount tickets (that I knew I could trust) the best price was at the local Disney store at the mall. They beat AAA by a couple of bucks back then.

Take a look at this site: http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=dl080114xx

They are a good resource for Disneyland information, including all current discounts and promotions (scroll down the page to see them).
