You did, and I was happy and actually high fived a friend after the 1st Q when you won, I like paying out people I know! I was hoping the my friends won every quarter tonight. Of course I was hoping I won each but I didn't. You won the first Q, a stranger won the middle two and a coworker won the final score. so it was 50/50.....Now I need to pat out and deposit every check and hope none bouncekitty wrote:nah...I know my team won..I don't need to talk smack.BottleofRum wrote:kitty wrote:aww...come on Pat! with a cute response like that...how can i talk smack???BottleofRum wrote:Glad he didn't bring white out and sad you're not with him.kitty wrote:my husband is in Vegas...he was just offered $500 for the shirt...what do you think now???BottleofRum wrote:

Wow what a game.
Kudos to the defense for keeping Brady on his backside every play seemingly! Congrats to Strahan for finally getting a ring.
Congrats to Eli! Even as he was playing well through January, I had the image of Rex Grossman in the back of my mind so I was a little worried that he would have a bad game and it would be back to same old Eli. But he played great - the one INT wasn't his fault - and the last drive was incredible. What a play when it looked like he might get sacked, but stayed on his feet somehow and Tyree somehow caught that!
Congrats to Coughlin. I thought pretty much since last year's play-off loss that he had taken them as far as he could - which was still pretty good since he had taken them essentially from 4-12 to the playoffs. But I thought they needed another coach to put them over the hump. But he certainly proved me wrong and I would argue between him and the O and D-coordinators, they out-coached one of the best coaches in history on the sport's biggest stage.
It's funny, the theme of the year for Giants in my eyes was "the Replacements." Starting from when Tiki Barber (
) retired last year, Brandon Jacobs had some big shoes to fill, but he managed to rush for over 1000 yards. And when he got hurt Derrick Ward stepped in. And when Ward got hurt, Jacobs and Bradshaw gave the Giants a great running duo. When Shockey got hurt, Kevin Boss filled in great. Rookie Aaron Ross stepped into the role of starting CB when original starter Corey Webster was struggling. Then when the Giants were banged up in the secondary in the 1st couple of rounds in the play-offs, Webster was huge, going one-on-one a lot with the other team's top receivers. Steve Smith and Tyree established themselves as legit options for Manning, especially after Shockey went down.
When you talk about how the Patriots are such a selfless team and play for each other, I think the Giants took a page out of that book at the end of the season. After a Week 15 loss to Washington, you could see the team pull together afterwards. They won big in Buffalo in the snow, even after they started slow to clinch a play-off spot and then pushed the Pats to the brink the first time. They intercepted usually mistake-free and Giant-killer Jeff Garcia three times in the wild-card game, then beat Tony Romo and Dallas in D, then beat Favre and the Pack in OT in -325448 degree temps.
The Patriots had a great team this year, and 16-0 or 18-0 is still something to be proud of. It was a great game...I'm just glad my favorite team came out on top.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Exactly. I thought the game was great, and what surprised me (and if anyone wants to pile on, I'm fine, I know what I'm about to say is the truth.) I thought and expected to root for the pats--I'm from N.E., and as a cowboys fan, how could I root for the Giants?--but from the moment they won the toss, I guess I just remembered what it was like to grow up in my house and who the two most important people in my life root(ed) for. I called my mom to congratulate her, and pops, this is for you!!SMLCHNG wrote:Great summation, Jim.CaptainP wrote:The Patriots were the best team in the NFL this season.
The Giants were the best team on the field today.
Today was what mattered.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.

Today was one game, albeit, THE game.
But as far as 2007 goes, nobody can deny the New England Patriots were the best team.
I am not sure I agree with that . . .
You don't play to win 16 games . . . and 2 playoff games. You play to win the Super Bowl. The Gaints for whatever reason peaked at the right time and everyone on that team did what they had to do to win the Super Bowl. That makes them the best . . . IMO. 16 wins is pointless. You all know I am Mr. Boston Sports Guy . . . and even I think that as far as this season goes the Giants should be considered the best . . . otherwise the standard and value of the Super Bowl is diminished.
I have the believe that either through coaching or other team management the Gaints paced themselves and won when it counted and the Patriots did not.
Giants are better.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

DP I understand your point but on other forums - and even in some press coverage - the opinion seems to be that the Patriots are now S**T because they didn't win the big one. 18 wins in a row is not a small accomplishment. BN'ers seem far more reasonable on this subject
It was one hell of a game and everything a Super Bowl should be. And it's not like the Patriots folded like a cheap tent, it wasn't an easy game for either team. Congratulations to all the Giants fans but don't become the arrogant a-holes that you've been accusing the Pats fans of being all this time <--- just a general spewing, nobody here has really demonstrated this behavior, but it's better than me continuing to yell at my laptop or TV!
