3yr olds and their Idol's

Post by SeaNile »

Seems as if my 3yr old son is starting a little early. Doesn't care much for Barney, or Sesame St but would rather get out his amp, acoustic or electric guitar and belt out a few tunes with his buddy Jimmy. He's got Fins down, including the "this party's not done yet...." intro at Fenway and then copies everymove, strum and expression of Jimmy. Seems as if his set list is "Gravity Storm, Run Run Ruldolf, Harbor, Gravity Storm, Fins and Cheeseburger."

Here is a link to a few pics from yesterday's concert...live from the Living Room in West Chester, PA

SeaNile,
I've got one of those at my house too. My 3 year old, River, asks to watch the Live at Fenway DvD all the time. At 18 months old he would sing the opening of Blue Guitar and also call out to people "Hey Hey Good lookin'"... much to everyone's amazement. Also, every time he sees an airplane or more specifically a seaplane (we live in the Northwest) he calls out "Hey, Mamma, here comes Jimmy Buffett!"
What are we doing to our kids? :D :D :D

Yea, he makes me laugh alright. Jimmy is by far his #1 but the Live 8 performance with The Who and Pink Floyd is a distant second. Some of the video I have of him performing is a riot.

We were in Atlantis for vacation last winter and a sea plane came into the harbor and Jack knew all about it from the cover of A Pirate Looks at 50 and from some of the footage in the dvd's.

We get Jimmy Buffett and Hannah Montana concerts.

Our Doll house theatre consists of the many trials and tribulations of the Hannah Montana and High School Musical Gang. For some reason the group does break into CIP frequently.
The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.

Seems like you're sending them down the right path to me I'd rather my kids listen to JB than metal singing about suicide and death or rap with all the b*tches and bl*nts. JB is all about having a good time, thats what our kids should be doing to. :D

:wench: We are raising them right! Both my kids are keets. One's almost grown and still lives the music. The little one will be 9 this Fall and her goal this year is to get old enough to come out of her booster seat in the truck and then SHE can pick cd's !!( that's Jim's job right now because he can always reach the case. And no...she won't ask her what SHE wants to hear) Sometimes I do put my foot down and let her choose.
"Mommy, when is Jimmy Buffett coming to OUR house? We go see him ALL THE TIME??" (Actual quote from my 5 y/o keet)

That is too funny! My keets and I watched "Live in Anguilla" recently and my 4-year-old son drug out his kid keyboard, faced the tv, and began to play and sing. He said, "Mom! I'm Mr. Utley!" :o Then, my 5-year-old got up and danced with the Reeferettes.

In the car, they used to demand The Wiggles and Dora. Now, it's random Buffett requests - "Can you play Fins? Can you please Take the Weather With You? Can you play Volcano?" I just LOVE it! :D

No kids of my own, but my neice is a big JB fan bacuse of me. When she was an infant, if she was fussy, I'd put her in her carseat and drive around, and she'd fall asleep listening to JB(I was going thru a divorce and lived with them for a few months). CIP became her favorite song (which it is to this day). When I went to Gillette to see Jimmy this past summer, I took pictures with my cellphone and sent them to her while she sat in front of the computer listening to it on RM.
As if destiny, there was a a break in the music, so I called Hannah to see how she was enjoying the show. Just as she answered, CIP started, and I let her listen to it over my phone, and my brother told me she was grinning from ear to ear, and kept saying " It's Jimmy- live" and told my brother I called then because it was her favorite song. Guess sometimes we just get lucky huh? (can't believe I'm tearing up recalling this)
I also brought her the pink "HULA GIRL" T shirt Jimmy was selling a the show, and she wears it to school all the time to the delight of her teacher, who is also a parrothead.

We may be the people our parents warned us about, but I still think we're better than the alternative, and as long as she's interested, she'll keep getting JB for every birthday and Xmas.

My two keets opted for a palm tree last year for Christmas. We used a parrot for an angel and had a grass skirt around the bottom. They helped make the whole thing, and had a blast! JB promotes good living. Of course, being teenagers, I need to keep skipping over WDWGD&S :D

I Love it! Yes, I skip over WDWGDAS. My son picks up on the lyrics too quickly. I don't need him singing that at preschool! :o

Came home from work today and was begged to go down stairs to watch Jimmy on the big screen. Man, kids today sure do have it good....we got out the electric guitar, microphone and an amp and powered up the 126" theater system so we could jam.

Life is good.

I am proud to say my 11 year old and 8 year old sons are proud phans!
My 8 year old goes to sleep with his radio playing a JB -CD I made for him.
Both have MP3 players filled with Buffett tunes.. Oh it makes me proud.
The only problem is they keep asking me..."dad, when are you and mom going to take us to Mr Buffett's show..."
:o
"At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder...what would Jimmy Buffett do?"
