and lest you think I do not want Jimmy to play Alabama..
I am not saying that is isn't going to happen
Or that it is..
I have no stake in it either way .. if He does book there that would be great..
Would I go?? probably not.. 92,000 people for a show doesn't
sound too much like a good time for me..

Figures he would play within a decent drive on the day right before finals and the day of the Florida State spring game. Oh well, maybe he will play in Tally again.

Sorry.. But 600 K will not even cover just Jimmy..
try 4-5 times that, by the time you...... get the band, the crew, the security
the permits, the Insurance, pay the U for the rent on the Venue.....
Bonds,Catering, Advertising, More Insurance and the other MISC. stuff
it Ain't cheap..

also unless the Alum/Booster club is willing to shell out the money
and just break even (those guys and girls didn't get to where they have $$
to drop on the school by being carefree with their money)

the cost per ticket would be nowwhere near 6 bucks..

let's see.. three million would cover nicely (yep, most likely you would have money left BUT)
split 92.000 ways.. with NO return around 32 each... (a little more than 6$)

even IF the alum were to take a ten percent gain on investment..
right around $37

AND that is no money back for Charity.. just straight numbers..
Oh I thought it was a problem that you were pointing out.
Remember this school just paid 4 million a year for a coach. They bleed money. So covering Jimmys cost would be chicken feed for them (3 of their motorhomes would cover it.)
As far as 92,000 people goes... well it is a lot but when you live in an area that has been on a long Jimmy B drought you take what you can get. And imagine the party outside before and after the concert.
Also with the casino set to open in a year or so about 4 or 5 hours south of here it only makes business sense to start climbing back in the local public eye.

Don't be surprised if he show up unnanounced at Lulu's the next day or night. Its not but 3 hours by car........ I'm thinking of making the run just on the off chance that he or some of the band drops in to play for their supper.

If Jimmy does show up good for you........I just wouldnt count on it. Not one person has given a solid reference to where they heard that rumor, just keep saying things about Message boards.

If it is part of that GridIron Bash I would almost certainly say no way to Buffett being there, if it was just Jimmy deciding to do Stadiums this year........maybe I would buy into it alittle.

Well Jimmy and 'bama would both look at it and say "Hell we can do this ourselves and keep the money." When I looked over the gridiron site I didn't see any good bands accepting to let them do this.

i seriously doubt that he'll play BDS for A-day weekend, but i've seen stranger things.

i would imagine that *IF* he played anywhere in 'bama, it would be at The Wharf - the brand new 10k seat amp just down the intercoastal from LuLu's. she would make enough in that single weekend alone to cover operating costs for the year w/ Bubba coming to town in an announced visit.

i hope he at least plays it once before the new Margaritaville Casino opens in MS. once that's open, i imagine he'll be there a few times every year.

The latest rumor from Bama message board "insiders" say that the concert the night before the A-Day scrimmage will be....

Alan Jackson.

Take it with a grain of salt, of course, and I'll keep posting what I hear.

According to the news lately, those Bama players do "pick-up" a loaf or two here and there...but then they end up in jail.
