Is Jimmy even eligible? You have to have two top ten hits (any genre) between 1950 and 1980.

If I recall correctly, "Margaritaville" hit #8, but that was it (at least in the top Ten) for a couple of decades... :-?

Performed by: Jimmy Buffett
Peak Chart Position: Billboard Pop Chart: #30; Country Chart: #58; Adult Comtemporary: #3;

would the AC #3 work?

it says "...required to have at least two top ten hits, singles and/or album of any genre."

According to the Chart History on this site, he's had 9 top 10 albums.

E-mail I got in response.
At this point, more than 300 recording artists yet to be nominated fit the criteria noted on the home
page of the Hit Parade Hall of Fame, of at least two top ten hits.

Jimmy Buffet's single top ten hit was Margaritaville in 1977, but perhaps in the future we may
establish a different criteria where a recording star can qualify with just a single hit in the top ten etc.

Thanks for your interest...

I have since sent a reply to the gentleman that contacted me showing him that according to their rules Jimmy does qualify based on the 9 top 10 albums. Let's see what he says now. :D

I see that only one of these falls into the 30 year catagory but that combined with Margaritaville (single) meets the requirements as I read them.

It didn't catch it because he was looking up Jimmy "Buffet."

Subject: Re: Nominated Artists

Yes, Jimmy Buffett did have top ten successes in album sales, as have numerous others. We did not mean to suggest he will
not be a future nominee, but at this early time in the Hit Parade Hall of Fame process, having several hit singles counts most
with the nominating committee. In our first year they did nominate Al Hirt, who with only one hit single has had limited
success in the voting despite his being a major star in New Orleans and was suggested by more than three dozen
fans. This had some effect on their selection this year.

Jimmy Buffett qualifies but with only one hit single wasn't nominated this year. Perhaps he would have been considered
more had his fans "suggested" him to the nominating committee as did the Al Hirt fans. Thus far, Jimmy Buffett has
received four "suggestions" such as yours.

The Hit Parade Hall of Fame is very interested in the votes and suggestions of fans, including yours.

Thanks again for writing.
I then replied to them with...
Thank you very much for taking the time to inform me of the process. I really do apreciate it.
One more question if you would, Exactly how do the fans make a suggestion? Is the way I contacted you proper or
is there another more correct procedure.

Once again I thank you for your attention to my questions.
