Have a blast!
but, my old phriend . . . what if the weather is like today?
hope all is well VT Chica!
Yeah I know, I know.
Ya know I've rented the Madaket house again for Sept. Got to try to connect this year and make a visit to the Chicken Box! Hoping MacPhin and Tag can be convinced to visit. I have extra room at the house.
Oh come on now...people in VT drive in 2 feet of snow, its a know fact!
You should come!!
ha ha ha, not THIS VT person - although I HAVE in the past in a pinch.
I actually also have pet issues, diabetic animal who needs twice daily visits/shots and my usual person will be out of town. Otherwise I'd still consider it even at this late date. I could use some tropical type fun!

This event sounds like a lot of fun. My wife & I have been vacationing annually in Newport for the past 20 years, but visit in September to attend the International Boat Show. Beautiful area and good sailing.
Hope those of you attending have a great time!!!!!
Be sure to catch the duo "Tropical Soul" when they play at the convention, too. They are from my part of world and really put an excellent show.

I was over at the Hyatt a couple of days ago.... What a mess......
What used to be a parking lot is now a construction site. There can't be more than 75 parking spaces left. So if you're driving in for the day (or even if you're staying there), you'd best have Plan B in your hip pocket as far as parking goes....

If you're at the Viking I HIGHLY recommend taking the shuttle.
Here's a link to a map with parking lots. This time of year the meters are free but there's a 2 or 3 hour time limit depending on location.

So here's my question, since this is my first time going to this extravaganza. I got my confirmation letter today, and they included a letter asking for me to reserve a hotel room. Do I need to stay at the ophicial hotel for the one night I'm going to be there, or can I just crash at my buddy's place like I plan on?

You don't have to stay at the hotel. (I'm going home at night.) But if you want to eat at the convention there's a meal plan you have to pay for. Not sure exactly how it works. Give Liz a call.

Sure you can stay at your friends house. I am pretty sure you dont have to buy the meal plan either as me and Tam arent. We are just staying over. The $55. fee gets you into the events. Come have dinner with me and Tam Saturday night!!

I need to find out if you can pay for just the Saturday evening banquet dinner. If I remember correctly, I think maybe there was music during the dinner? But I could definitely be wrong.
The food at the hotel wasn't bad, but there are LOTS of great places to eat in Newport within a 15 minute walk from the Hyatt. We also do have these things called cabs...
