Tap through the fridge filter or brita and bottled for me. I don't like the tap without the filter. I read something over the weekend that said that children today are not getting enough flouride because they are drinking bottled water only. Dental issues will be on the rise...

I'm a tap water gal 90% of the time. :D Our water tastes good here.

I grew up with floridated water, and at almost 48, I have 4 fillings and no other dental issues.

When 'on the go', I'll grab bottled water. :)

Our water is awful. So much iron that sometimes it comes out red. :o

Anyone raising kids without daily flouridated water intake should be sure to tell their dentist or pediatrician so that a prescription Fl vitamin can be prescribed, after an analysis of their drinking water shows that very little naturally occuring flouride is present. (some wells have TOO MUCH naturaly occuring flouride!)
Our home is on a community well with no natural fl, and you bet I made sure our kids took their daily suppliment! Still do, til age 18.
The real trick? Figuring out how much they are getting!
We are on the well, their school is not. Some of their friends houses were, and others were not. Grandparents? City water with flouride.
Bottled waters vary, as well as do juices and sodas, depending on what water they were mixed with.
It's pretty hard to figure out who should get the suppliments these days!
My practice is in the city, and virtually all my patients have flouridated water in their homes. That used to be a no-brainer, but now I have no idea how much they are getting. Some might never drink the stuff, relying on bottled water, juice, soda, etc. exclusively. Too much Fl and you rot your teeth and bones (flouroses).
Not enough, and you are highly suceptable to decay.
It used to be easy to calculate the neccesary suppliment, but not any more :(

Ice cold tap works fine for me.

Maybe it's the average age of the folks hangin' out here, and the means with which we were raised, that the tap is still preferred.

But there sure is a TON of bottled water being bought out there,
(anyone see where Madonna's monthly bottle Kabbala water bill is over $10,000?!?)
and I just think it's got to one of the great swindles of our generation that Madison Avenue ad execs have managed to get so many of us to
PAY SOOOO DAMN MUCH for something (non-spring water) that ALREADY flows into our homes every single day!  :) :-? :-? :-?

talk about your selling ice to eskimos...

i always drink from the tap, the water up here is actually quite good.

in truth, unless your tap water is discolered and tastes of rust, it is better than any bottled water. there is scientific reasoning behind this. since tap water is publicly accessable the national and state governments are forced to regulate the quality and content of the water very high. bottled water companies do not have to do this because they are independent, so there water does not go through any of the purifying stage. all being said tap water is far better, cheaper, and healthier. most of the time just adding some ice works to get rid of any wierd taste. most of the time bottled water claiming to be from some remote moutnain spring is from a regular watershed. its best to drink tap....
If I had it all to do over again, I'd just get myself drunk and I'd jump right back in...

Didn't Aquafina change the wording on their labels last year when they admitted it was just processed tap water?

I'll have to agree with you - Seattle just confuses me. One of my doctors is at Harborview and I just hate to go there - it takes an hour to go 22 miles. There's only 3 things I don't like about WA - it doesn't get hot enough in the summer to enjoy a dip in the pool/lake/river/ocean. The cost of buying a home is outrageous and the women here are extremely cliquish and unwelcoming.

oh and Federal Way's water is AWFUL[/quote]

having grown up a thrity minute ferry ride from seattle(bainbridge island) i have to give my local insights in response here. I spent the first 18 years of my life living just outside seattle and stil visit there at least a few times a year. i agree withh you about the traffic, its bad, and in case you havnt noticed all the drivers are far to polite and never take initiative themselves, which can be why the traffic is so poor. the real esate is pretty poor, but that is due to the city's recent poularity.

im not sure where your approaching women, but so far i have not really found them to be "cliquish and unwelcoming" maybe its where your looking? i dunno i havnt experienced this excpet at a way too classy bar (ex. belltown billiards).
as for the summer...come on, first of all the weather in the summer is not condusive to swimming everyday. there will be rainy days, but the last 10 summers have been perfect. clear sky, no humidity and between 75 and 90 degrees. if you are trying to swim in the lakes, youve got to be kidding me, those are so warm i could spend hours at a time in there. swimming in the sound(which i grew up doing) is a nother thing entirely. i will give you that the water is cold, but you have to know how to do it. find something to jump off, a dock for expample. you cant try to go swimming from the shore, the water is cold enough it will scare people off the beach, a quick total immersion on a sunny day is one of the best feelings i can think of. my advice is to keep trying and get yourself acclimitized. let me know how it goes...
