Lulu Buffett's New Cookbook

Post by phjim »

<table><tr><td valign="top">Image</td><td valign="top"><font class="postbody">Lucy "Lulu" Buffett's new cookbook "Crazy Sista Cooking: Conversation and Cuisine with Lucy Buffett” is now available at Amazon.com. The cookbook contains over 150 recipes, and a bunch of good stories as well. The foreword is written by her brother Jimmy.

A review of the cookbook is available from Baldwin County: "Serving up good food and tasty conversation"
<em>
(Lucy) Buffett said the book includes the history of LuLu’s, and why the restaurant had to be moved to its current location on the north bank of the Intracoastal Waterway, near Alabama Highway 59.

“It’s about fun — old family stories — and most of the recipes are LuLu’s recipes,” she said. “It was a conscious decision whether I was going to write generic things about a sandwich. I decided this wasn’t going to be fun unless I wrote about my experiences. Besides, I really hated sandwiches as a child.”</em></font> </td></tr></table>

Here is another review of Lulu's book and story and a video interview with Lulu. She is funny and has such a sweet southern voice.

Another good article about Lulu. Or, part of it anyway. A good photo of her riding a horse to relax.

Funny you should mention that.

We went down to Gulf Shores for "Stars on the Water" last week and went to Lulu's.

We bough five or six copies of the book, both for ourselves and to donate to a silent auction our phlock will be having at one of our upcoming events.

She signed every one of them.

I actually sat and talked to her in the parking lot for several minutes, not realizing who she was and then, once we got in, she came over to our table and hung out with us for a little while.

She was very gracious and very nice.

The food at Lulu's in out of this world. I think I ordered four or five orders of the okra and the "L.A. caviar". Recipes for both are in the book.

...sorry, that should be "Stars Fell on Alabama". Stars on the Water was the band we heard the night before.
