Hotels near Camden Yards

Post by CrznDnUS1 »

I know that this has been already discussed by i will bring it up again. What are some of the hotels near Camden Yards within walkin (stumbling) distance? Also what are the good spots to get crabs before a game? No public bathroom jokes please.

There is the Marriott Inner Harbor about two or three blocks from the stadium. You can actually see it from the stadium. I know there is a new hotel being built next to the stadium, not sure if it is complete yet. There is the Radisson Inn not too far from there. There is a Courtyard by Marriott... about 3/4 of a mile walk from there on the other side of the Inner Harbor.

For a local feel, go to Sliders right across the street from Camden Yards, can't remember the name of the street it's on but if you ask someone, you'll be able to get there. I think it's near Gate G.

There is the ESPN Zone in the Inner Harbor. There is also DuClaws (a microbrewery).
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

It depends on when you are going..If it is for a Red Sox or a Yankees series I bet all the hotels are sold out. We booked our hotel for a series in June back in October. But you can find cheap somewhat decent hotels about 15 minutes away but the cab ride is expensive.

Bars, Pickles Pub, (Washington Blvd) right across from the stadium is good - there are 2 or 3 other bars next to Pickles as well. Or walk down Pratt to the Inner Harbor, plenty of places there.

Well, I reserved a room at the Tremont Plaza Hotel on Saint Paul Place. I hope it's not a dive.

Stayed at the Days Inn several years ago. Real short walk to Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor where you can get just about anything to eat.

You might also want to check the BWI area. There is a light rail station not far away and most of the hotels run shuttles to the light rail stop.

I've stayed there several times on business in the past. A short walk to the Inner Harbor and Oriole Park. You should be fine.....

If you like Mexican food, try the Blue Agave restaurant in the Federal Hill section, 5-minute walk south of Inner Harbor. Here's their website link: http://www.blueagaverestaurant.com/

Great food, reasonable prices, & the best restaurant margaritas I've found. All are straight up, not frozen.....

Where can I find the best crabs in that area? A friend told me to go to "Obrycki's" but make sure I call ahead since they often run out of crabs. Are there any other suggestion for seafood in that area. I perfer to not eat my crabs in the stadium or at a touristy place in the Inner Harbor. Any suggestions?

I've lived in Baltimore all my life.

ANY hotel within walking distance is gonna be pretty pricey. There's a Sheraton and Marriott for starters.

Crabs:
Obryckis is a Baltimore favorite. They are on Pratt Street (runs right in front of the Harbor and Camden Yards) but down towards Fells Point. Not walking distance.

Bay Cafe's are pretty good. It's in Canton which is about a 10 min cab ride. There's also Canton Dockside.

I can't say there are any real good crab places right at the Inner Harbor (closest restaurants/shops to Camden Yards). Rusty Scupper in the IH has good seafood, never had crabs there.

If you're smart you'll stay away from ESPN zone, Baja Beach Club and Power Plant Live. They are tourist traps with tons of immature 20somethings.

If you want nightlife, hit Fells Point or Canton. Fells is before Canton, about 5 min from Inner Harbor. Great pubs, bars, etc. Max's on Broadway in Fells has about 200 beers on tap.

PM me if u need any more info.

While not at the Inner Harbor, the best crabcakes I've found in the Baltimore area are at place near BWI airport called G&M Restaurant, a local institution that's been around a long time for good reason. Their crab cakes are huge, all meat, and very little filler.

Here's their website: http://www.gandmrestaurant.com/

You'll see on their site they even ship crabcakes!! If you're ever near BWI do yourself a favor and stop by......

Crabs or Crabcakes?

Post by Pickaroon Parrothead »

I love 'em both and there are a lot of good places for both. I'd recommend finding a good 'cake while you're here and buying live crabs on your way out, take 'em home and have a party. They're ez to cook and a lot cheaper that way.
I can't really help you on good downtown places, because I live in Joppa (about 25 miles N of the Inner Harbor). If you want info up here, PM me.
Bon tempes, bon appetite.

What I could never understand is why crabs or crab restaurants are so expensive in the Balt/ MD area? You'd figure if they are so plentiful there it should be less expensive? I can get blue claws cheaper here in NJ than down there, same crabs, RIGHT? Maybe it's just the hype and or maybe it's supply and demand, more on the demand side. But I can tell you the BEST cakes I ever had were in MD.

Sadly, the blue crab population in the Chesapeake Bay has declined significantly over the years due to poor water quality. Most "Maryland" blue crabs now come from the Carolinas and points south.......too bad.

sorta thought that, they must have all moved up here or down there. Last time I came back from Deleware I got a 1/2 busshel in south jersey for like $25. Man, I didn't know what to do with all them crawlers. Well we 'et em all [smilie=happy.gif]
