The Chills of Winter

Post by Finnsaremorefun »

Ok, its January 30th and I am buried in snow in the real 'Upper Michigan', the UP. It is near 0 degrees, has been for the last few weeks, little/no sunshine, and the white stuff will be on the ground until May.

Excuse my mumbling, but winter fever is in full throttle...I just wanted to say that you guys..n' wonderful girls of course keep my hopes of summer high in a time of grim and the ugly depths of winter.

If you people feel the same way or wish to b1tc* about your terrible climate, shoot away at the freezer and post.

Any tips, comfort, or w/e you wanna share..give me some reading material.

And last of all, fins up in the snowbank till May..or at least until concert dates are released!

Michigan weather is delightful in July and August, tolerable in June and September.

The other eight months - all I can offer is condolences!

Sex. Booze. Sleep. Repeat.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.

I usually find condolence going horizontal in my unfortunate indoor spa w/ a large picture of a tropical memory hanging above it...an influential cd on the laptop and a drink or two..gets old too quickly though, and not quite the real thing.

Reminds me of a friend who spent some time in the far reaches of northern Maine a few years back. According to him there were only 2 season: Winter and the 4th of July!!!! :D

It's easy....

MOVE

Was for me. I grew up in northwest Indiana for 40-some years. Nuff-is-enough. Life is a one-time shot, so why waste time shoveling snow and getting the winter blahs?

Couldn't agree more!

I grew up and lived 25 years in Indiana and Michigan.
Have family in both states.

I can't claim to live on an island like Minty, but living in the warm sunshine of Florida sure suits my tropical soul better than the frozen North did!

Hey FAMF,

Best wishes on your college experience and here's wishing you a long, happy life ahead..... :D

I have a feeling you'll eventually migrate to your proper latitude.... :pirate:

I was 20 once......I think!!! :o I'm not so sure that I don't have some ball hats over 20 years old, maybe they're "collector's items"?? :o

Here's a little hint: When stuff you grew up with becomes a "collector's item" you may be getting old!!!!

Yeah, this cold weather s--ks, but at least in Michigan there's stuff to do.

You could be stuck in THIS G.D. hell hole where it's cold and there's NOTHING to do-not even in the summer.
Except plan road trips OUT OF STATE.

Not allowed to complain about snow/cold in our house. I'm married to a Quebecer... according to him, nothing but the arctic is worse in winter than Quebec.

Dropped 50 degrees last night, and my furnace went out--had someone at my house at 11 last night, paying double time, but had no choice.
got the heat going for now, but my house needs a new furnace :( :( It was not a good day!

You have my sincere condolences. While I live above the Mason-Dixon line (PA), we no longer have winters like we used to (global warming ?) and nothing like the UP. But I'll go along with what others say and what George Carlin once said, "If you don't like the weather, MOVE".
