Track 4.

It's erroneously attributed to Jimmy. A lot.

If this is the song you're referring to.

I was tired of my lady,
We'd been together to long,
Like a warn out recording,
Of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping,
I read the paper in bed,
And in the personal columns,
There was this letter I read.

If you like Pina Colada's,
And getting caught in the rain,
If your not into yoga,
If you have half a brain,
If you like making love at midnight,
In the dunes on the cape,
Then I'm the love that you've looked for,
Write to me and escape.

I didn't think about my lady,
I know that sounds kinda mean,
But me and my old lady,
Had fallen into the same old dull routine,
So I wrote to the paper,
Took out a personal ad,
And though I'm nobody's poet,
I thought it wasn't half bad.

Yes I like Pina Colada's,
And getting caught in the rain,
I'm not much into health food,
I am into champagne,
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon,
And cut through all this red tape,
At a bar called O'Malley's,
Where we'll plan our escape.

So I waited with high hopes,
And she walked in the place,
I knew her smile in an instant,
I knew the curve of her face,
It was my own lovely lady,
And she said "Oh its you",
Then we laughed for a moment,
And I said "I never knew".

That you like Pina Coladas,
And getting caught in the rain,
And the feel of the ocean,
And the taste of champagne,
If you like making love at midnight,
In the dunes on the cape,
Your the lady I've looked for,
Come with me and escape.

If you like Pina Colada,
And getting caught in the rain,
If your not into yoga,
If you have half a brain,
If you like making love at midnight,
In the dunes on the cape,
Then I'm the love that you've looked for,
Write to me and escape

actual title is Escape (the pina colada song)

There used to be an O'Malley's in East Hampton. Great place down an alleyway. It had great burgers. I'm hungry.

Could it be the Garth Brooks song, "Give me two pina colodas. One for each hand. We'll set sail with Capt. Morgan, and never leave dry land." Something like that.

When that first came out I thought it should have been Jimmys.

Is this Jimmy's song or Rupert Holmes? Did JB write it or does he ever sing it?

Rupert holmes also sang this little number.

Over by the window, there's a pack of cigarettes.
Not my brand you understand,
Sometimes the girl forgets
She forgets to hide them
I know who left those smokes behind
She'll say, oh, he's just a friend,
And I'll say, oh, I'm not blind
to..

(chorus)
Him him him, what's she gonna do about him?
She's gonna have to live without him,
It's him or it's me, me me,
No one gets to get it for free
It's me or it's him.

Don't know what he looks like,
Don't know who he is.
Don't know why she thought that I
would say what's mine is his.
I dont want to own her,
But I can't let her have it both ways.
Three is one too many of us,
She leaves with me or stays
with..

(chorus)

Him him him, what's she gonna do about Him?
She's gonna have to live without him,
It's him or it's me, me me,
No one gets to get it for free
It's me or it's him.

If she wants him she can have him,
Just exactly how we once were,
Its goodbye to he and I,
and back to me and her,
Without..

(chorus)
Him, him, him, what's she gonna do about him?
She's gonna have to live without him,
It's him or it's me, me, me,
No one gets to get it for free,
Time for me to make the girl see,
It's me or it's him.

(repeat chorus)

It is Rupert Holmes, I listend to the song the first time because it was mistaken to be Jimmy, but it is actually a good song.

Very surprised that people on this site doesn't know that song. Maybe I'm just alot older than most of you. Anyway, for being one of the biggest dorks in the music industry, Holmes wrote and sang a classic beach anthem.

"Escape" was the last number one song of the 70's and the first of the 80's.

I never understood how this overblown piece of AM radio crap could ever be mistaken for anything by Jimmy Buffett.
