Jimmy would probably get himself booted out of the stadium before halftime for b*tchin' at the refs.

I agree. Floridays (and a number of others, like OPH) would be fantastic, but not realistic. Maybe I'm biased (and who here isn't?
), but after Jimmy's surge in popularity from "5:00 Somewhere" I can't believe his name hasn't been brought up as a potential halftime performer.

See I think IF he were to play (and I kinda hope he doesn't), it would be One Particular Harbour, Volcano/Cheeseburger, Fins, and Margaritaville. I hope to god he wouldn't play 5:00, BEG, or So. Cross. I could see Come Monday or Pirate Looks at 40, but I think they're too slow.
Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Good points. I don't think the people with tickets matter much though. It's the people watching on TV that the entertainment makes money for the advertisers off.TommyBahama wrote:The thing is...the people who have the Super Bowl tickets aren't the younger Generation.....Buffett may be popular with us....but how many people really know all or most his songs other than CIP and Margaritaville!!......i live in a town where i am probably the only Buffett fan or close to it..even the state as a whole there aren't many PH'S ..would i like to see him do the Half time show... sure....but again ...he may do a awesome job and others will like him and want to see a concert....then it would be harder to get tickets!!ccmatt wrote:I dont' know about that. The more I think about it, he has much more recognition with a younger audience than Tom Petty. If you're going to use an older entertainer, ( and they use older entertainers,) he may not be too bad of a choice. I think his problem would be with the older generation that doesn't care for his stuff.LIPH wrote:I don't think he has enough mainstream appeal, or even recognition, to be the halftime performer either.

Couldn't agree more. The halftime show is all about television and its viewers. The performers are definitely not picked for the live audience at the Super Bowl. As a result, acts are being booked based on a number of things, one of which is marketability. Arguably, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Prince and Tom Petty are very marketable. Is Buffett "mainstream" enough? I don't know. I'd like to think he is. Is he marketable enough? I think the answer to the that is a resounding yes.ccmatt wrote:Good points.
