They're finally here... so it's spring, right?

Post by Desdamona »

I finally can report robin sightings here in NE Florida. They're almost a month
later than last year, and the ruckus is different. Usually they just land all over
the yard, but today I keep hearing them but not seeing any on the ground. I
finally realized that they're being hustled around by mockingbirds and wrens!
I guess they're tardiness has caused a culture clash. And the weather forecast
is for rain this afternoon, tornadoes tonight. Nothing normal about all that!

So, anybody else got robins? Tornadoes? Spring?

Funny thing is I just saw some last week in New Jersey and now it's like 20 degrees and snowing. I remember seeing a post just like this last year, so I guess spring is on it's way.

It has to be on its way .... cause ... what happens is that it arrives, then summer totally flies by ...... then autumn arrives and it starts getting colder - and you are back to winter again

Robins dont always migrate, just like Canada Geese these days. Better indicators are fishing birds flying back to northern states, but then again if the lakes are not frozen for them to fish its pretty easy to tell its getting warmer

Actually it is 'not all robins migrate.' And mockingbirds can sound just like robins - and car alarms.

I saw robins all winter. They look funny all puffed up to try and insulate themselves better.

All we have here is mostly those friggin' ugly blackbirds that come in HUGE swarms. We have to use cannons and fireworks at roosting time to keep their nasty a$$es away.

Well, there are no permanent resident robins here, and that one day was the
only time I've seen and/or heard them this year. The mockingbirds were real,
though. I saw them and the robins and the wrens all interacting that day.

I guess the robins went elsewhere to avoid being harassed. :-?
