Clemens: Liar or Not?

Post by rumdrinks »

First off, what kind of circus of a hearing are they having when Clemens gets to hobnob in Congressmen's offices the day before, chit chatting and signing autographs for those who will be hearing his testimony???

If you read Andy Petite's testimony, he says Clemens told him he did do HGH/steroids. Clemens says Petite "misunderstood" him, he claims he was talking about his wife.

What does McNamee have to gain by lying about Clemens ? He says he injected Knoblauch and Petite and they owned up. So McNamee wasn't lying about them, so why would he lie about Clemens.

While I have been a Clemens fan in the past, I have admit, I think he's the liar here.

It doesn't matter because if he admits that he did it now, he will be held for perjury to Congress and be tried and if convicted, sent to jail. His reputation has already been tarnished.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

I vote liar.....he's just trying to salvage his chance at Cooperstown.....there's just too much evidence against him. Even his supposed best friend Pettitte testified they'd discussed his using 'roids and HGH

I think somewhere, Dan Duquette is sitting back smiling, saying "See, I told you he was done when we didn't resign him to the the Red Sox"

I can't believe that I agree with you and say DD looks pretty good right now.

have thought he was a liar, and an attention whore ever since he "retired" the first time. and then came back. and retired again. and came back. and retired....

I am sorry. I am disgusted by the lack of professionalism on the part of the congressional delegation and their staffers who fawned all over a guy delivering testimony before them. you don't seem that when it is Micheal J. Fox looking for increased funding to fight Parkinson's.

I am disgusted by Clemens.. but then I have always figured he was too good to be true.

In the end, it isn't going to matter. He may not go in on the first ballot, but someone will start agitating by his 5th year of eligibility and he will be in.

I'm with ya, Jen!
While we may not always agree with certain aspects of the war that we're embroiled in,
we can agree that this BS that went on today was right up there with the Clarence Thomas hearings, in measure of ridiculousness

"You're here under oath, and yet we have lie after lie after lie." said Rep. Dan Burton, an Indiana Republican.

A Republican congressman calling someone a liar? :o

Could not care less about this whole situation. As others have said there are much more important matters that our gov't should be looking into. IMO they are both liars! Clemens took them and the trainer has lied about a lot of other things while on the stand. Send both of them away for 6 months (thats all Marion Jones got), get this circus over with, and try to fix something that is going to help the people of this nation more than if a multimillionarie took drugs from his trainer.
