Doing phine. Since hard-drinking-calypso-poet is taken, I'm sticking with a real office-type gig for a bit. Strange having actual weekends! I'm actually going to MOTM this year.

Two of our local Bennigan's have closed.
They could shut every Applebee's in the U.S. down and I wouldn't miss a lick. It's only good if you're coming home from a concert and don't feel like going to Krystal or Waffle House.
Amen!

Margaritaville San Diego in the Gaslamp, or Margaritaville Newport Beach with docks to pull up the boat (Jimmy, are you listening my friend?)

Other cool location options:

- Irvine Spectrum (near Irvine Meadows, Jimmy's fav west coast venue).
- Catalina Island/Avalon
- Dana Point Harbor
- Long Beach Marina

Just a thought......we promise to go often.
OMG someone on this board from So. Cal. other than me. Hello SDPiirate! Hey, if you know Newport Beach, do you remember the Margaritaville restaurant and bar that was on PCH? It closed about 5 years ago, but I remember drinking beer there more than 25 years ago. After becoming a parrothead, I always wondered how they got away with using the name, unless they had named the place before Jimmy had copywrote the name. Anyone know when Jimmy registered for copywrite protection? By the way, I doubt Avalon would work for a place the size of his current Margaritavilles ...not enough trade year 'round, but when I was in Vegas last October he said his people were looking into him performing on the island this year (2008), so I'm crossing my feathers.
Ukulady....

Hello from San Clemente, just moved from San Diego. You are right of course, Avalon could not support year round. We will stick with Laui Larry's.

I have strayed into the old Margaritaville on PCH in Newport on many a Sunday. Even rented the place for company events. Alas, now a memory as you note. This was always a bootleg Margaritaville, just like the bootleg CIP in Lahaina Maui owned by two women who somehow worked it out with Jimmy.

Great rumor about Jimmy on Avalon! This would be a huge win/win. I have a 53' boat and make the Catalina run several times a year. Wow, this would be HUGE. Maybe it will be during the Jazz fest.

There are around a dozen or soBNer's in So Cal who post. Most of the guys are from San Diego and are all great folks. You can find me at the Jimmy shows pre-parties in a 45' gold/black tour bus with "FINS BUS" plates. The entourage and I are all friendly. We are also going to Eagles in Indo, Chesney in San Diego, Tom Petty in Irvine, etc. Stop by.
Avalon wasn't just a rumor, I heard it straight from the man.....me and 16,000 others at the concert so I'm hoping he wouldn't just say it if it wasn't a possibility. Won't that be great...our own Anguilla, just 26 miles away.....a 53' boat and a tour bus? I definately want to be your friend.lol
Wow, great news on Jimmy. This would be awesome to have him on the island! I have to believe it will be the Jazz Fest, or he will have his large yacht on the west coast and is itching to make the trip a write off of some sorts with a "business stop" in Avalon. Heaven knows he would not make as much as Gillette.

Yes, I have the tour bus and boat. The boat is named "Hotel California", and of course the bus is all Margaritaville themed. It was with me on the east coast run last fall at Gillette and over to Nantucket. I have spent the fortune of a small country following music and tailgating (Billy Joel last week at the Pond).

Always looking for new friends, stop by and say hello at the next west coast or Vegas shows. Will be at The Police at Coors in SD May 26, Chesney May 29 at Coors, Eagles in Indio May 2nd. Tom Petty in August. Just waiting for Jimmy to announce west coast dates!

FINS UP!

In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you.

If Jimmy plays in Avalon, you can be damn sure all will know this line from Southern Cross, and help sing every word. Like many before me, I have called several beautiful women from my favorite noisy bars in Avalon, Luai Larry's or the Marlin Club. I finally settled down and got married to my very beautiful wife Heather who is used to me calling when I hit the island with the guys. If he plays Avalon, all BNer's are welcome to hang in the harbor with our group of pirates.

New CiP Happy Hour Program...

We just returned from our nightly phlocking to CiP in Sandestin. My wife and I go two-three times a week for happy hour. Our happy hour deals were $1.50 for 14oz. domestic draft beer and $2.50 for "call" brand cocktails. We have always thought these prices were excellent. But last night when we sat, one of our regular mixologists let us know of a price increase. The new price was $2.50 for the beer and $3.00 for the cocktails. Not a bad thing considering we are about to go into the Spring Break mode down here. What shocked me were the stories our wonderful bartenders were telling us about the reactions that they were getting from other "locals" One guy actually walked out and another broke his beer glass on the bar. How rude! You still would have a hard time finding a better cocktail or colder beer at a lower price in the Destin area. They must not adhere to the WWJBD attitude.
