And we were so sorry you and Larry missed him! :(

As Tom said, last Feb we were at Margaritaville in Orlando the day after his show! We had lunch and were just sitting around chatting when we saw Charleston inside. Few minutes later Jimmy showed up and did a broadcast for Radio Margaritaville! Afterwards he stayed around to sign autographs, and I got to say hello, and tell him what a good show the night before was. Also told him our group was with Buffettnews, which he replied,"Oh, I need to go on there and see where I am suppose to be next".

Met him at a book signing in Chicago. I can't recall what I said to him. Got my picture taken with him.

I have met his cousins/in-laws and a couple friends in Alabama and Mississippi.

My brother chatted with him at Ditch Plains one day; my husband (ContinentalDrifterIII) met him when he won a trip to Key West at the East Hampton '01 show. Me? Nothin.

Saw him at the will call window at a Linda Ronstadt show in Dallas back in 70 something. Then later that night at a bar where all the "people" who are in town for shows used to go.Cant even remember the name of the bar or who was there. But he came in by himself and sat at a table about 2 down from ours.Just about had enough courage worked up to go ask him what he was drinking when several people came in and crowded in to his table. So I blew it off.-----Guess thats what I get for being "Quite and Shy"
Indecision may or may not be my problem

In Tampa once, I had a 3rd row seat on the end of row, near where he came out and he shook my hand and thanked me and others around for coming while waiting to go on stage.

NO!!!!!!! But an older couple, friends of mine, were vacationing in St. Barths a few years ago, they went to a certain restaurant hoping to catch a glimpse of another celebrity (I forget who) that frequents the place, and was a no-show anyway, but while they were dining, in walked JB, he sat dwon and ate and whatever with whoever he was with, so my friends waited, and waited, and ordered more drinks, and desert and coffee, (It was the most expensive meal they have ever eaten in their life)  and lingered and finally the man had to walk past them, and when he did the husband engaged him in conversation, (they are around the same age as Jimmy) they had a very pleasant talk, and all I remember of what was told to me was that Jimmy is certainly thankful for his "stardom" but, just doesn't understand how all these kids like him so much (something to that effect). Anyway from what I was told of the conversation Jimy seems to be a very humble guy. I hope some day I do get to meet him :)

Um, the answer to that would be a great big YES! :D
Ok, ok....many of you have heard me tell my story- but she asked!!
So, I'll tell it again....
We were fortunate enough to be in the right time at the right place down in Anguilla last March. Taking the ferry over from St. Martin that Thursday, we were tipped off to be on the beach outside the Dune Preserve the next morning to 'see what happens'.... And that we did- at 8am! There were just the 4 of us, initially....myself, Rob, frozenbird (Chris) & parrotprof (Dawn). The workers were messin' around...straightening out the sand...stools, etc. One by one, the Reefers started coming out...Robert, Peter, Nadirah...
Then lo and behold from behind us (via the Cuisinart Resort) comes Jimmy....just walked up...shook Rob's hand..said 'hello'....Chris told him he was guarding the grass (the Dune- it's protected!) That was a jaw-dropping moment in and of itself!
So we proceed to stand there, awestruck by all of it as more people started to wander over.... things got put in place....Charleston kept everything well under control, including where we all could stand/sit.
Then he plays. For about 2 hours! When they were done- he spoke, thanking all of us for being there & talked about making the DVD. Then he basically just walked our way & I started saying that I was from Chicago, had 5 kids...was so happy to meet him...at which point he said 'Damn, you look good!' <sigh>
I had made a sign, which said 'Welcome to my 40th Birthday Party' that he then autographed 'To a pirate at 40, Love JB'. Then someone said Picture! and we posed below.
At that point- to the best of my recollection- I started bawling. Like a baby. Uncontrollable sobbing. For how long? I dunno....talk about a moment when you're numb. Absolutely numb. I had a once-in-a-lifetime moment...one that I will NEVER forget..

Mine is pretty much the same story only a little different...I used to work at a small airport in columbus (KOSU) before I got my current job. The day after I left guess who happens to fly in...JB...he came to see the new CiP opening up. My friend who was working knew I idolized him so he took a pic with him on his camera phone and sent it to me, trying to rub it in.  But at least he did get an autograph for me. :)

True story,
sometime around 1984 (we can finally blame our memory loss on the years gone by, and not the booze)
I was in an elevator in the Columbia Inn in Md, and the elevator stopped between floors.
Much to my suprise, Jimmy walked in.
it was just me, Jimmy and a buddy for 6 floors.
It was great. Jimmy could not have been nicer.

I did, kinda. I failed miserably to get the lottery tickets for his opening of the first CIP. I did come up with a great idea though to just go stand outside the night of the show. He played for about 45 minutes and me and about 10 others stood outside the outside seating area about 20 feet from the stage. Then as he finished people started leaving and offered all of us outside their passes to go in. I declined and went out back and waited by the door. Jimmy came out a couple of minutes later and I walked with him on his way to his bus. I completely froze up though and said something stupid about how good the show was and couldn't wait for the concert the next night. The picture I took was the background on my computer for a long time. I would post it, but it is on my other computer at home. I will post it up later.

I was at the "opening" for HOOT in Irvine and took my book in case I had a chance to get it signed. Lotsa people were hanging around so I almost didn't ask, but saw an opening in the crowd, squeezed in and handed it to Charleston who had Jimmy sign it for me. Also got Carl Hiassen (author)and Frank Kennedy (director) to sign it as well. I was a happy camper!!! [smilie=battingeyes.gif] [smilie=superkewl.gif]
