As usual, I believe you are correct, LIPH. I think it was 2003.LIPH wrote:2003?pleiades03 wrote:Don't ask me the year (many, many healthy brain cells ago), I somehow got right in front of the stage at Margaritaville Orlando when Club Trini was playing.

I remember seeing Heather and Jules there before the show started. I thought I'd go over to talk to them, they saw me approaching them and they came over to talk to me.pleiades03 wrote:As usual, I believe you are correct, LIPH. MET JIMMY IN NEW YORK
JIMMY WAS DOING A BENEFIT CONCERT FOR WOUNDED SOLDIERS IN NEW YORK LAST YEAR. I WORK IN THE AREA AND WALKED OVER WITH A FRIEND AND THE HEAD GUY FROM JIMMY'S SECURITY SAW US IN OUR UNIFORMS (PD) AND ESCORTED US TO THE FRONT OF THE STAGE. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO ONE THERE! THE RICH SUITS PAID THERE GRAND AND LEFT. JIMMY CAME DOWN OFF THE STAGE AND MADE SMALL TALK WITH US. I HAD A PICTURE OF HIM ON STAGE FROM ANGUILLA THAT HE SIGNED FOR ME. LETS JUST SAY I CAN NOW DIE HAPPY!!!!!!

With everything that went on in Anguilla & hanging with him here in ATL, the voice mail on my phone is so cool to me. Every now and then I play it and it puts the biggest smile on my face.surfpirate wrote:I think I am as envious of this as anything else in this thread. I will share another story that is not mine. My wife and I have this couple that we are friends with and go to church with. Anyway we had them over for a cook out once and we had Buffett music playing outside (as we always do) and my wife and I babble on at what big fans we are. They say they are not huge fans but like his music ok, Anyway she tells him..honey tell them your Jimmy Buffett story. He is a big outdoorsman like me, anyway he said that one weekend him and a friend were out fishing on a river somewhere in south Georgia maybe N. Florida, but I am pretty sure he said S. Georgia...anyway they were in a unfamiliar area and came upon this big house/cabin and it looks like a big party is going on...well there are people on the shore in flip flops and bathing suits hollering at them and inviting them over. They were hot so they paddle over and accept the offer. Everyone was very friendly and immediately placed a drink in their hand and food too.. As they moved around and socialized they came to a large circle of people (a party within the party). In the middle of this circle are the grills and a couple of guys working them and Mr Jimmy Buffett. They were all talking and laughing and my friend said someone asked if they were the fishermen and Jimmy asked how was the fishing today..My friend replied not too good and Jimmy said too d*m hot and told them to stick around and then walked off with two other guys. Some drunk guy threw an arm around my friend's friend and said bet when you were heading out this morning you didn't know you would end up at a party with f___ing JIMMY BUFFETT!
"At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder...what would Jimmy Buffett do?"

Here is the picture.

Richard wrote:I did, kinda. I failed miserably to get the lottery tickets for his opening of the first CIP. I did come up with a great idea though to just go stand outside the night of the show. He played for about 45 minutes and me and about 10 others stood outside the outside seating area about 20 feet from the stage. Then as he finished people started leaving and offered all of us outside their passes to go in. I declined and went out back and waited by the door. Jimmy came out a couple of minutes later and I walked with him on his way to his bus. I completely froze up though and said something stupid about how good the show was and couldn't wait for the concert the next night. The picture I took was the background on my computer for a long time. I would post it, but it is on my other computer at home. I will post it up later.
