One of my best friends played basketball at Wake Forest and will be inducted as an ACC Legend on March 8th. She played when Tim Duncan was there and I have met Tim Duncan (he married a girl from my hometown)

Bobby Jackson, who was just traded from NO Hornets to Houston Rockets, is one of my friends too

The crazy guy from the Dodge commercials that says "that thing gotta Hemi?" is also from my hometown, but I don't know him. He just won Last Comic Standing.

OK, time to be serious .....

Up through 9th grade I played in the school band (cornet). I never went to band camp.

In 9th grade (last year of jr. high) I was voted "Most Scholarly". In 2008 that translates to "Biggest Geek".

You wouldn't know it to hear me now, but from grade school thru high school I was in the school choir.

I have 2 children ..... one is an elementary school teacher (4th grade), the other is a U.S. Marine.

I've never broken a bone (at least not one of my own).

In November 1984 I was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

I was on the debate team in high school, competed in debate, extemp speaking, impromptu speaking and expos speaking...........I was double ruby in the National Forensic League........yes, UBER NERD.

I was the first female police supervisor in Northern Utah....and one of two female police administrators in the state when I retired.

I can drink a glass of beer without using my hands.

I, too, can tie a cherry stem in a knot with my tongue.....hence, my twenty year marriage.

I know the cop who shot Santas' Cousin.

I've never seen anything to confirm it but I've heard stories that some long dead relative on my mother's side of the family was a member of the honor guard at Abe Lincoln's funeral.

My grandfather did his surgical residency under the supervision of the Mayo Brothers.

I have signed photographs of Dr Will and of Dr Charley (as they were known to their residents) signed to my grandfather.

Something you didn't know about me?.....I finally have an avatar! And yes it is on my van and yes I got on the big screen last year at Vegas holding it at the very end of Changes in Latitude at the Bama Breeze Tour. My two seconds of fame.....I was so proud I cried.

Thats awesome that you beat it!
I was very fortunate - it was diagnosed early. Some surgery, several weeks of radiation and a couple years of follow-up testing. All things considered it could've been a whole lot worse.

I'm glad that you had a good outcome, Bob....I would have missed not knowing you.

Right back atcha ..... and some day we'll get to meet (not meat) in person.
There's a funny story that goes with my "ordeal" (well funny in a kinda twisted way). I was in the hospital the week of Thanksgiving. Some of my co-workers decided to have a plant sent to my hospital room. In what I assume was an attempt to make the planter a bit seasonal, the florist included ...... wait for it ...... walnuts and a nutcracker! A few of the folks who sent it were mortified when they found out. I thought it was one of the funniest g.d. things ever and laughed myself silly. Laughter really IS the best medicine.
