What if Jimmy sang Sinatra "That's Life"

Post by POW1950 »

As we all know Jimmy likes to put into his set lists an occasional song made famous by someone else. Personally I like this if he doesn't get carried away. I think this approach may keep him performing a few more years which is what we all want. Let's face it "Let's Get Drunk" must make Jimmy sick by now. Listening to "That's Life" recently I thought it may fit into his set list. I could see Jimmy getting into the lyrics and Nadira and Tina would sound great as back up. My only concern would be the younger Parrotheads who may not know the song. So what, the so called Parrotheads don't know the words to half the of the material Jimmy has written and plays at his concerts now. Look for the Stones "You Can't Alway Get What You Want" to make a few set lists this summer

I can see him doing that and I think it would sound pretty good. I used to hang out in this bar many years ago, and "that's life" was in the jukebox. We would get good and sauced and play that over and over, had the whole bar doing a sing-along. Sounded awesome.

That's probably why he didn't do it at all on last year's tour.

No way!!!! that would be terrible and very chessy. its like something you would see a lounge singer performing on a cruise line. jimmy buffett has plenty of great jimmy buffett music he needs to perform and not anybody elses!!!

What if Jimmy played Jimmy's songs at a concert? Like the ones that everyone loves but he never plays. I think that would be really cool.

Please. Leave Sinatra alone. Don't ruin his work like the recent Grammy show did.

Might of helped if they had been in the same studio, at the same time when they did that one....no?

what if?? I really hope the new soccer pavilion will bring him back to Denver. He plays Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, why can't he play Dick's Sporting Goods Field here?

Sadly, same management for Dick's as the Pepsi Center. And I can only guess that the reason he hasn't hit Denver must have something to do with venue management....but what do I know?

Thank you. I nearly tossed my cookies during the opening number. Blech.

I think if he started doing Sinatra it would be the beginning of the end. He'd be a lounge act.

If JB did That's Life it would be one more COVER to add to the - I certainly hope he stops playing You Can't Always Get What You Want - he's been doing that long enough - and he doesn't even play it right either.

JB being a lounge act? NO! What about Hokey Poky and Altered Boy. He's halfway there already - even though everyone thinks those tunes stink. I think they're hilarious.

What was that rant in 1977 - No More Beatles, Stones Or Who?

How about No More Brown Eyed Girl (and whatever else).

Maybe the 2008 tour is gonna be called

I couldnt agree with you more!! its pretty bad that he can keep selling places out when every year he adds more and more cover songs to his shows.he must not like most of his music. doesnt somebody close to him ever say "jimmy, another cover song? how about the songs we wrote over the past 4 decades?" and to me,playing you cant always get what you want, would be a slap in the face to his loyal fans.

Aw, c'mon; Sinatra is the greatest popular singer of all time. I hope Jimmy doesn't cover him; I like Jimmy's music but he doesn't have the voice for Sinatra songs. 8)
