awful people

Post by thelawman20 »

We got in a cab on the way back to the midway airport hotels, and some lady from Champaign, Illinois was a total b.... I am a student who has two masters degrees and she told me i am an idiot, and I remained calm, and then she demanded my girlfriend and i leave the cab, and the muslim cabdriver sided with them... i really didnt do anything except tell the lady and her husband that life was too short to be rude to people like that and that they should consider what they were doing in light of the fact that they were leaving a buffett concert

i am just totally appauled right now. we flew all the way from tallahassee florida to see buffett in chicago. we did it last year and the venue at tinley left much to be desired, and now this year this lady and her husband were completely insane. i cant even say how bizarre this was... it was ridiculous. i mean these people were abysmal. awful.

MAJOR kudos to Toyota Park!! :D :D They did a great job hosting Jimmy and us parrotheads for the 1st time, in my opinion!! Nice little 'programs' when you pulled into the lot, lots of garbage cans that were getting emptied regularly during the day, and I didn't see a lick of garbage on the ground anywhere after the show (UNlike Alpine)... fed Jimmy somewhere overlooking the parking lot... easy in and out - I was impressed!! Nice job, TP!!

I guess neither of your degrees is in spelling. Please don't hold the actions of some other travellers with your views of Chicago in general. I hope you have better luck the rest of your stay.

I thought they did a great job. The venue definitely had a different feel for the show (stadium vs ampitheater). But the overall atmosphere was great. My favorite part was being able to start the car at 11:20 and be home by 11:45. A few years ago it took us over an hour just to get out of the lot in Tinley Park. From what I've heard Toyota Park sent a few teams to check out shows at other venues to see how they were handled. I think they made a wise decision on embracing tailgating and including vendors in the lots.

For those of us going to tomorrow's show, was charcoal grilling allowed?

My recap... had a GREAT day yesterday!!

Mrs D and daughter really enjoyed it too!

I've never had such an easy drive to a show... pulled in a little before 2:00, and was in the 1st row of cars! Saw the BN caravan, with Cindy doing a shot, before I was even parked, and heard Lee2 (I think) yell "Tiki" when I beeped, then ejr greeted us right out of the car!! While we were settling in, Cindy came over to say hey, and Dan the Candyman brought us Swedish Fish! Thank you all for the generous offers to feed us too - we really appreciated it! :D

It was great to see the aforementioned, as well as Vicki, Nicki, Glorfindel, WinoYouKnow, Randy and Mrs Randy! (Why does it seem like there were more people? Who am I forgetting?) We also saw BadHabitsACCNT (sp?), palmtreegal, and BHAKeet out by the bus, and were seated a few rows up and across the aisle from them for the show!

Mrs D told me numerous times that I have very nice friends! She also thought it was super cool to see so many reactions to my hat, and was thrilled when I won the hat contest at the MVille bus! Lindsey was a champ at the limbo contest earlier!

The armchair cruiser is awesome!! Never saw Dan and Ferg, but my girls asked if the driver was the Jolly Mon!!! :D :D

I really liked the laid back atmosphere, and it was super easy to come and go. It was the first time I was used as a landmark for directions... guy on phone: "Look for E3, and there's a girl wearing a tiki bar hat under a rainbow umbrella... she'll point you in our direction!" Hung up and asked me if I minded  - nope, not at all. Said to keep an eye out for a tall guy... he should have said a tall smokin' hot guy!! [smilie=battingeyes.gif] :wench:

Speaking of tall smokin' hot guys... chibears calls at 7:30, asking where I was sitting, because he decided to come to the show! :D I told him, and sure enough, a little while later, he walks up and visited! :D :D Told me he just saw my daughter on the jumbotron!! :D :D

Yep - proud parrothead mama moment!! One parrotvision guy had filmed my whole group, but another came thru, and recorded Haley by my 5 O'Clock clock, then recorded Lindsey by my Tiki license plates hangin' from the 'brella! They both got mucho primo screen time during CILCIA! :D :D They were playing with beach balls before and during the show, so when they were shown, a large part of our section erupted in cheering applause! They were even recognized from the screen later in the restroom!! LOVED it!!

As always, good to see you and the girls JoAnn! :P I agree with your assessment of Toyota.....very easy in....clean, lotsa potties...
Once inside the venue, I don't think I've ever seen so many 'red-shirts'....security people! :o They were literally tripping over each other! All in all, a very nice time...and looking forward to Saturday- Get that sitter!! :P

  The girls even asked me... are the people in red security? Why are there so many??

I think they outnumbered the peeps in the audience until 8pm!!

I Agree that TP did a great job on Thursday (but I've a feeling Saturdays going to be another story)

I was really impressed with the security as well.

It took me about 1/2 an hour to get out of the parking lot (which is pretty impressive considering that I think it took at least an hour to get out of Tinley last year)

I do have a few complaints with the prices for the food and drink though :o

Was fun to meet everyone, hopefully some of you are going to Saturday :D

Toyota Park did an excellent job!!! Saturday shouldn't be a problem!
We were also in the first row of cars we we arrived at 1pm (ish).

Official merchandise stands in the parking lot was a great move! TONS of trash cans, port-a-potties, and even concessions in the lot too! THe staff was very nice, and even walked around and asked if we needed anything!

They were ready for us, and I think Saturday will be the same.

I think they'll only be checking tickets if the event is completely sold out... (otherwise I think they'd probably force you to buy a ticket in order to tailgate.....) I know I didn't have to show one to get in.......

The official word was that they WERE, in fact, going to be checking...but they WERE NOT. I think they realized how much this would slow things down. They were, however, checking tickets like crazy once inside the venue. You HAD to have a ticket for whichever particular section to gain access to it.....

I know that it is late, but this is the first chance I have had at the computer since the show. It was great meeting all of you before the show and the Mrs. and I really enjoyed the pre party. Your kindness and generosity will not be forgotten. We will see you all tonight at the Mac show and then again (Thanks to Candyman) tomorrow at lot at 11:45.

I think I am going to set a record for most 5 hour engergy drinks in a 4 day span.

Why is it every time we go on vacation, we have to get up early every day becuase we have things to do? Vegas = Gambling. Myrtle Beach = Golf. Buffett trip = Lot time and Cubs games. I need a vacation from my vacation.

Thanks again!!
I think I'll take my shoes off and go walking

Great Recap!! I cant believe I didnt put your hat with your BN nickname.. You looked like you were having a great time!! I was watching you from inside the bus at the time you were there and commented to my wife how cute your hat was!!! I was kinda stuffin da face for fear of drinking on a empty tummy and the wifey telling me,,, YOU BETTER EAT SOMETHING DUMMY!!! A missed opportunity and I am sorry I didnt come see you, as I really wanted to say HI!!!

Candyman, Thanks for Stopping by and seeing me!! I cant remember everyone who was with you, but they were super kind as well.

I spent a great deal of time watching people. It was FANTASTIC. Toyota rocked. It was super smooth all the way around. You peeps going Saturday are in for a treat!! Jimmy was perfect. 100 times more entertaining in person. That guy is really one of my heros now. The venue was awesome. I had great seats in section A Dead Center. I was absolutely overwhelmed for my first Jimmy Concert. There were tons of beachballs flying during the concer and it was a riot. My head was on a pivot. The temperature was perfect. The crowd around us was a delight. I really cant say enough.

I was delighted to see the chair hanging in there. It has seen abuse by some fans and some rough terrain but has weathered it very well. No complaints from the driver was a good thing. In the bus we talked alot about future plans and business. It was good. A time to remember always.

Thanks again to everyone involved. It was great!!! Look forward to seeing everyone again..

Hey Dan,

It was nice meeting you guys. We need to drag you over to the Buffet News tailgate next time your in town. Then again I guess it's hard to beat the Margaritaville bus for a tailgate. I know we enjoyed lots of good food when we were visiting.

The Armchair made it by us numerous times on Saturday. That thing is the ultimate in cool tailgate toys!!!!!
