Thanks to Mo, Tag and I just finished viewing the Texas Connection, 1992.
It was EXCELLENT. Question we have is, was this a regular show that aired and was Jerry Jeff the host???

Carol, was that the show where Buffett told a story about a friend of theirs (Phil Clark maybe) who had died a few years before the show and Jerry Jeff said "so that's why I haven't seen him?"

Buffett: His ashes are next to the cash register at [some bar] in Key West.

Jerry Jeff: Then I have seen him.

I still have my grainy VCR tape of that show.
It's one of my favorites because of all the stories
they told before playing the songs.

That's the one with SoJJ playing the harp on a number of songs. If you don't know who SoJJ is, it is short for Son of Jerry Jeff and we aren't talking biological, it was used in reference Fingers.

It was a great show and I still have the video tape. I just hope that the VCR holds up for a few more decades.

My mistake, Phil Clark's ashes are at the Full Moon Saloon, not the Chart Room bar...

I've been trying to find this version of APLAF and found out a little bit more about this show in the process.
I'm sure it's already been documented somewhere else, but thought I'd add it to this thread.

Here is the setlist from http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/jimmy-buf ... 297be.html

1. Railroad Lady
2. Margaritaville
3. A Pirate Looks at Forty
4. Come Monday
5. I Have Found Me A Home (cut from broadcast)
6. Love In The Library (cut from broadcast)

Note: This show was Recorded for the TV Show “Texas Connection,” and was played with Jerry Jeff Walker and Greg “Fingers” Taylor

The conversation between JJW & JB about Phil Clark on APLAF goes as follows:
(a few um's & uh's have been edited out for clarity, any other omissions are unintentional, but would also be very minor)

JJW: We have a running buddy that we've known for a long time, I haven't seen him now in maybe 15 years... Phil Clark was his name.
He was the bartender, when we were hanging out in Key West when we first got there. He was a real Pirate.
JB: Yea, he was the real Pirate.
JJW: You just knew it. He had that kind of breath and those eyes. (JB/Audience laughing)
JB: Phil Clark was the Bartender, and basically his system was - anybody he liked, the locals, he would always get the tourists that checked into the hotel pretty gassed up and then he would charge all of our drinks to them! (JJW/Audience laughs)
JJW: Definitely a Pirate!
JB: I love America, ya know! And um, he was really that, uh there was always something going on and he was either heading to Providenciales... He put words in my vocabulary that later became songs and stories about it. I remember seeing him sail away with his girlfriend one day off to some exotic island, and I was like: "I wish I could grow up to be a Pirate like him!" (audience laughing)
and I didn't get to do that, but it sort of inspired all that old Treasure Island kind of stuff. You know I was always a young Jim Hawkins fan from way back. And Phil Clark died about 10 years ago...
JJW: Oh, that's why I haven't seen him!
JB: Yea, he hasn't been around...
There's a happy ending to this story!
JJW: Well, if you hadn't told me that, I'd have thought he was still around! Every time I go to Key West, I look around...
JB: Well, I tell you what, if you'd like to see Phil, I mean in a way it's true, because his ashes are in an Urn atop the Full Moon Saloon cash register.
JJW: Alright!
JB: Yea, they brought him back there and they put...
JJW: Well, then...I HAVE seen him!
JB: You have seen him! He would laugh at this, believe me! (audience laughing throughout)
This song has become, I guess, it's truly one of my favorites, and most people that have been with this music for all these years it seems to be their favorite, too.
I guess we all wanted to grow up and be Pirates at some point and when we get to that point about where... it's not the best economic strategy at all, but, everybody seems to like to sort of snarl that line out, so your welcome... you know what I'm talking about, yea... (song begins)
