Just formalized the plans for our annual spring break trip to Hatteras. As always we take a large group including my 3 college kids and around 7 of their friends. They spend the whole time surfing.
I have heard though that one of the bridges on Ocracoke is out making travel to the main part of the island only possible with a 4x4. Anybody know this? I'll check with our realty on Monday about it.

An Ocracoke bridge with troubles?
That's news to me. (No surprise.)
Howzat Bonner Bridge holding up?
There will be real problems when that dinosaur gets closed (or crashes into the Sound).

The one local paper reference I saw said that the bridges will be finished March 15th, the day before we get there. But there are always delays so we'll see. There is no way to get past the beach in Ocracoke now without 4x4. You can take the ferry and go to the beach but that is it.
