That "One Particular Harbor"
I am just a bit confused. Is that "One Particular Harbor" in Tahiti or Hawaii?? Jimmy was quoted from a written statement that he had made about the opening of his new restaurant in Waikiki "Jimmy Buffet's Beachcomber" and he said he was excited and looked for an excuse to go back to that "One Particular Harbor" that is "so far but yet so near". Maybe he is just using those quotes as a plug for his new restaurant in Waikiki, but I thought it was in Tahiti. You are still going to play in Tahiti this year aren't you Jimmy? Please tell us when and where?! Anyway, I am still going to Tahiti sometime this year - with our without you Bubba! (I would rather it be with you though!) Maybe I will see you again - on the beach in Waikiki!

Buffett: "I had my sights set on Tahiti a long time ago and connived my way there through my good friend Tom Moffatt in Hawaii. We went there to play a show to an unknown audience, but that didn't matter. I had still made it to Tahiti. At the airport we were met by an old expatriated American named Hugh Kelly who had run away from home a long time ago. We became instant friends, and he took me to his home on Moorea in the mountains above Cook's Bay. When I looked down at the vista, the song came out as if it had been sitting inside me waiting for the moment."Ukulady wrote:I was always under the impression "OPH" was in the South Pacific which includes both Hawaii and Tahiti, I didn't know he was ever specific. Besides if we all knew, we'd just go there and ruin it.

I always thought the song was about St. Barts where JB used to be a partner in a hotel or something. One of the lines "But now I think about the good times Down in the Caribbean sunshine"
Roll with the punches
Play all of his hunches
Make the best of whatever came his way
What he lacked in ambition
He made up with intuition
Plowing straight ahead come what may
