That would be awesome!! I cant remember the name of place we stayed the last time, but it was really close. Coming out of the parking lot, go straight about a mile or 2. At the 4-way redlight, it's just across the way.sunseeker wrote:I'm checking prices on hotels as of right now...
the closest hotel are between 2-3 miles away. Do you all want me to check on getting a block of rooms???
My Charlotte show story is this. We left during the last song to try and beat the crowd. Got to the car fairly quickly (in the rain), pulled out of there like a crazy person, and a cop car pulled out right in front of me. Turned his lights on, and I about pooped. (not in shape to be driving
Anyway, so I pulled up to the back of the cop car and stopped...and out of the parking lot came Buffetts bus. (it was a titanium color...and VERY nice).
turns out they were stopping traffic for the bus to exit the venue.
But we were the FIRST CAR in the stoppage (stoppage..?)
We followed it for a little while, but then called off the "stalker behind the bus" pursuit
But I was 10 feet from Buffett...even though it was for a minute.
This year I am going solo, so can help with tailgate setup, and look forward to meeting everyone.
This may be my "spend too much, try to catch the flip-flop, front row seats" concert. I have a credit card set aside for this concert!!

they're 13 and 11...and huge Buffett fans already. My 11 year old asked me if I was going to be one of those crazy people like it showed on the 60 minute Buffett interviewdiverg wrote:How old are the keets?z-parrothead wrote:My kids are going to think I finally went crazy.

I raise them fairly conservative, so that was a funny moment for me...I told him "what happens in Vegas or a Buffett concert, stays in Vegas or the Buffett concert".
Thank you for asking!

Well its good they are big buffett fans already or they might be a littled embarrased at the things grown up do at a buffett tailgate.z-parrothead wrote:they're 13 and 11...and huge Buffett fans already. Amen to that Z....I learned that at a very young age myself. Way to teach them young....and way to be a great dad for doing so. I had to learn about Jimmy from my friends.z-parrothead wrote:they're 13 and 11...and huge Buffett fans already. Jvenz---I live in Indian Trail too! Where about r u?
I can help with tailgating plans too. We had a great set up a few years go!!! I am so excited.
There are a few hotels that are close to Verizon. Some up near the speedway and others closer to the university. Boardwalk Billy's is a popular pre-concert gathering place about 2 miles (maybe less from the verizon) and there are several hotels near there....Hilton, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn etc.
Some people never find it, some only pretend, but me, i just want to live happily ever after every now and then.

yea, they know it's just a getaway from real life. They are actually proud that I am going to get out and do something other than work and raise keets.Amen to that Z....I learned that at a very young age myself. My son is 9 months and just hope that he tours for a few more years so I can take him.
My parents (married 52 years), raised us all (5 sibblings) in church, so we have a pretty conservative grounding. I actually left their 50th wedding anniversary to drive to the Charlotte show in 06. My mother jokes that I'm the only kid to leave his parents anniversary party for Jimmy Buffett...but they say it in an understanding kinda way
Anyway, my parents actually raise parrots, parrakeet's, love birds, etc. , so we like to tell them they are parrotheads at heart, but just won't admit it to their kids.

Great idea Z and sunseeker.. I placed my vote
I think if we can't get a block of rooms that we at least make sure we're all at the same hotel..
I'll be there.. I'm flippin' excited.. giddy like a little school girl since it's been several years since I've seen him!!
I'll be participating in the tailgate also.. just FYI starting Monday I'm back to reality with work (no more training) so I won't be on here as much.. I'll try and check in as much as possible.. if you need an answer from me though and I'm not responding.. ping me with a PM
PHINS UP!!!

We are from Charlotte and so don't need hotel rooms but we will definitely be around for tailgating. We are still getting our group organized so can't commit to any plans - there will probably be about 10-15 of us.
On the keet subject, I couldn't agee more. Ours are 18 and 16 and have been going to concerts since they were born. They have been to Charlotte, Raleigh, Meriweather, Nissan and Atlanta. Once when they were pretty young in Atlanta we were walking around the parking lot and our youngest turned to us and said, "You know I really don't think this is any place for kids." It was pretty funny! Our oldest is in college now so won't be able to make the show but the younger one will probably be there!

Hey Z, if this was a weekend show I would consider it, but work work work...
Good luck on the front row ticket! but I dont think you are going to get a video camera inside the venue though... even if you do get it in, since you are in the front row and not the nosebleeds security would probably snatch it as soon as you pulled it out
Wish you the best of luck though
