I'm putting these songs together because they were played back to back. In the middle of the second set during the Thursday MSG show last year, Jimmy played Boat Drinks solo, which was cool enough. Then as the rest of the band came out, but two lonely spotlights shone one Mac and Jimmy and they proceeded to play It's My Job as a duet. When they got to the line "But sometimes I still forget / 'Til the lights go on and the stage is set," the lights went up on the rest of the band as they joined in for a more orchestral finish to the song that gave me chicken skin the rest of the night.

2. The Weather is Here: 7/1/06 Jones Beach, New York
First of all "The Weather is Here" is my favorite song of all time. He hadn't been playing it frequently before this show, if I remember correctly, and was ecstatic when he introduced this song. It was a rockin' version, and the first line "He worked hard all year just wanted a few weeks alone" was dead on for me.

3. A Pirate Looks at Forty: 9/14/06 MSG, New York
Fingers came out and played five or six songs during this concert, including Fins, but it was this finale that got me. Just Jimmy, Mac, and Fingers playing APLAF to close the show gave me goosebumps, and thus is the representative song for all of the songs that Fingers came out for.
(Honorable mention goes to Pirate Looks at Forty from Camden 2006 when I got to hear the version with the Redemption ending for the first time)

4. Fins: 8/27/02 Jones Beach, New York
First time I saw Fins live- nuff said.

5. In My Room/Tonight I Just Need My Guitar 6/23/07 Camden, New Jersey
Like with hearing Pirate with Redemption Song earlier in the night, this was exciting to hear. Jimmy, Mac, Nadirah, and Tina did a great job with this and I loved they all slowly faded out until it was just Jimmy on the stage with his guitar, the perfect way to end a show.

I remember both of those Buffett shows at Jones Beach, well kinda ;) ..I think 2002 was the year they had the Fireworks show for him and Jane for their Anniversary. That was crazy, they closed the Ocean Parkway and had like a 15 minute show. Ahhh good times.

As far as whole shows go, Anguilla 07, Maui 04 and Aspen 06 take the cake.

Yeah it was at intermission, right? It's definitely in the top 10.

1. Changes in Latitude - Anguilla. After baking in the sun for hours
wondering if the instruments were going to melt, out walks Bankie Banks
and gives a great, great suspenseful intro with an awesome story about how the show came to fruition. He told about how one day Jimmy came to see him at his "Dunes Planet" bar, looked around at the converted old washed up boat that forms the stage and said "Bankie, I Wanna Rock this Boat". The CRB was already on stage and we were just waiting for Jimmy.
So, Bankie said something like "Welcome, Jimmy Buffett" and Jimmy just walked out wearing his shorts and tshirt and said "Bankie said it best, let's rock this boat!" Then he picked up the open body strat and hit the 1st chord for Changes in Latitude" We all started dancing through 3 hours of pure delight. It was magic! The Anguilla DVD is awesoem, but I still don't understand why they didn't include Bankie's intro to Jimmy. It was one of the highlights!

2. Helpless in Toronto 2005. My favorite Neil Young song and Jimmy nailed it. It had rained like heck all through the tailgate BUT the skies cleared up 45 minutes before the show. Being there on my 1st "out of town" date with the girl I knew I was going to marry after a year of dating and hearing Jimmy play that terrfic song on a mid June night. Wow.

3. Fins/Margaritaville. Cincy 2006. That was my 1st and only "solo" show and I met some great folks that hung out with me in the parking lot as I shared a 12 pack of Red Stripe with them. My girl was maid of honor for her friend's wedding in Pittsburgh and had wedding stuff to do before i joined her the next night for the rehearsal dinner. I decided to hit Cinci on the way to Pittsburgh (got lucky with Ticketmaster 3 days before the show - 10th row, my best view of a Jimmy show till Anguilla). Had a great time and went into the show wondering if it would be average or there would be some shining moments. The people I ended up sitting next to had gone to the PH Club party where Fingers had played. They swore he was going to join Jimmy. Sure enough, out comes Fingers for Margaritaville and the best live version of Fins I think I'll ever hear! AWESOME!

4. Distantly in Love to close Anguilla. Perfect ending song for a perfect show.

5. Jolly Mon - Pine Knob (I think 2000?). It was my 3rd show, I was still a Yellow Album fan, but I heard Jolly Mon and loved it. That inspired me to buy a whole mess of CDs and, 8 years later, I have a Jimmy Buffett problem. 8)

(I had to edit #5 after looking at the set lists. I know that Jolly Mon jumped out at me and I rushed out to buy a CD with it - I think it was Tuesdays, Thursday & Saturdays. The sad thing is looking at the set lists from shows that I attended in 1995 and 1996 and seeing that I was AT shows where some of my NOW all time favorites were played but I was too unfamiliar at the time to even know how special those songs are. I'd be thrilled to here Cowboy in the Jungle or Off to See the Lizard now. Turns out I have already been at shows where they were played but I was just too dumb to appreciate those songs back then. Oh well. Reason to keep goin to shows) :D

Yup, during the Intermission, they said they were going to bring a couple of chairs out so they could sit and watch the fireworks.

"That was the night I painted the sky"...last show at Buckeye lake...can't remember the year. Fire works went off during the performance and I got to make out with Christine the girl I had been chasing for at least a year. ahhhhh to be 19 again.

That would have been June 1996. Awesome and the Night I Painted the Sky as the second encore was absolutely awe inspiring.

The final song at Nissan 2007:

TIN CUP CHALICE with Fingers along side Jimmy once more........priceless!
