I understand that there may be a bit of lag between the time of the announcement and when it shows up on Mville.com, but I assure you my source is very much an inside one and in all the years I've known him has never ever been wrong when he tells me Jimmy is coming to town on a certain date. After 5 PM today, the Indy show should go into the 'official' confirmed section!

Um, I'm gonna guess gaberaham99's source is the same as last year, and since last year he/she was right on the money......
Used to be people greeted tour info with glee..... this year seems like a lot of scepticism and sarcasm..... pretty soon people who are in the know won't bother to let US know any more (as has happened in at least one case already this year.....)
Thanks for the info, gaberaham99!

pardon me, but yeah, I realize people might be in the know. I just tend to believe that when it has been posted on his official website, then it is set in stone. Unconfirmed rumours, no matter how good the source, are still rumours.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Um, I'm gonna guess gaberaham99's is the same as last year, and since last year he/she was right on the money......

and yeah, part of it is annoyance this year (that has been building for the last several years) that concert tour information dribbles out of Jimmy like ... well, fill in your analogy. In a world where it is possible to schedule 30 teams for 162 baseball games over 6 months, it can't be that hard to put together a complete schedule and just drop it in one fell swoop.

so why take that out on the people who are trying to pass on information?RinglingRingling wrote:pardon me, but yeah, I realize people might be in the know. I don't think saying, "actually, it isn't confirmed until.." counts as "taking it out on people". It is a simple statement of fact.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:so why take that out on the people who are trying to pass on information?RinglingRingling wrote:pardon me, but yeah, I realize people might be in the know. this the part of the "announce in dribs and drops" that annoys me. I generally don't have a problem with time off, but if you do travel (more and more a necessity because the constant cutting back of the schedule), 2 weeks notice tends put airfare from the "ok.. this could work" to the "hmm... looks like I have to find someone to 'donate' a kidney to fund this.." range.Tropic_Al wrote:The way the dates come out, it really is annoying.RinglingRingling wrote:pardon me, but yeah, I realize people might be in the know. Drop a few dates, sell 'em out, release a few more and so on. It is about time they figured out that they'd all sell. Some fanatics do plan their vacations around some of the tour dates.
And unfortunately some bosses require advance notice of our time off.

Ringling,
My source has given me a great education on how shows are booked. In the case of Jimmy, it goes something like this--
1. around late Jan/Feb, his tour manager contacts all of the reps for the various 'sheds' and other parks and tells them to place a series of 'holds' on their summer calendars.
2. Said tour manager then askes Jimmy personally if he wants to play the same places as the year before and the same number of shows. This year, he wanted to go elsewhere in Chicago, for example.
3. Once the tour order is established after consultation with the band, each venue is again contacted and told which hold date to lock in.
Therefore, it really isn't Jimmy's fault that info 'dribbles'; out for his tour; its just that each venue has to work out its own schedule after consulting with Jimmy's tour manager. Dates are announced as each venue gets its date confirmed.

I would like that as well, but as we all know, the ticketmaster site gets overwhelmed pretty easily when multiple shows go on sale at once. Therefore, I think selling 1-2 shows at a time is Jimmy's answer to the hordes of fans that get frozen out of buying tix, since each show sells out 5-10 mins after it goes on sale. I've gotten in to buy pav seats when i'm only up against 1 or no other shows, while in the years that 5-6 shows were on sale at once, I couldn't get anything.

I hear you. I am not saying put all the venues up for sale at once, just that the dates could get announced in one fell swoop so the planning of the concert life could start. then put the tickets onsale in one-three concert blips, with a venue in each timezone, so you don't have Chicago, Indy, and Alpine all on sale the same daygaberaham99 wrote:I would like that as well, but as we all know, the ticketmaster site gets overwhelmed pretty easily when multiple shows go on sale at once.
