RIU Tropical Bay (Negril)

Heading there in a few weeks for a 7 day trip, any BN'er ever been? If so please share your thoughts.

We've had friends visit there this past November and I've walked past it from the Grand Lido Negril just down the beach.
They are in the process of a renovation of the rooms and are scheduled to close in August (?) for a complete renovation of the common areas (dining areas, swimming pools, etc.) and re-open in December (yeah sure) as a Riu Palace resort.
The beach is very nice there much better than their sister property Riu Negril (two resorts away). You have exchange privileges with RN, but their guests don;t have privileges with RTB.
Can't answer too many specifics about the resort. Is this your first time to Jamaica? We've been six times.
I also suggest you check out tripadvisor.com Jamaica forums. Lots of info to be found there as well.

Sorry blackjack I forgot I started this thread. We are leaving this Thursday out of Chicago read a lot of reviews getting quite excited about the trip.

Stop by Rick's Cafe for a SUnset if you get a chance. Great view but a little pricey for drinks. Just have one and watch the sunset and the local cliff divers.

Just got back and had a fabulous time. I think we made the right decision going to Negril compared to Mo-Bay. Our resort was fabulous and actually met a ton of Buffett fans.
We did hit up Ricks Cafe (didn't jump), and the Negril Margariaville. The Margaritaville was a good time yet a lot of college spring breaks.
We never did make it into Negril to the flea markets, but we did enjoy seeing the country side on the bus ride in from Mo Bay.
We highly recommend RIU; all inclusive for a very reasonable price.

Welcome Back! Glad you had a good time.
I would recommend Negril over MoBay almost every time. It is our favorite. Did you see the divers/jumpers at Rick's... crazy stuff, huh?
Was there any mention of RTB closing for renovations?
