True that there is more to see/do at GW than you can possibly take in but I think Foxboro was much bigger and I felt I saw even less than what I saw at GW. We didn't even see 1/4 of out lot. Not that it was a bad thing...BottleofRum wrote:many things, lots open when the first car arrives, usually by 8am, no fee to park, by 10 the lots are filled up, cops are very laid back and let us be. The one thing I hear often about the great woods tailgating from people is they wish they had more time because there is so much to do and see in the lots, no matter how early you get there you still miss half of the fun because you are "stuck" having so much fun at the other half. And I 100% agree with that, it seems that between 4pm-7pm time flies and before you know it is time to head in. I always wish I had a few more hours.diverg wrote:Being relatively new to the BN group. It is a matter of what you like, GW is not for everyone, some don't think it's all that because it is too hectic. Buffett always calls GW the best tailgating in the world but I don't put much stock into his opinion, it's not like he is out there doing ice luge shots with us, I go by what I feel and what others have said who have experienced it. I have been to many places for Buffett and I am not alone when I say it is far and away the best I have ever been to.
Wait, Mansfield cops are laid back?BottleofRum wrote:many things, lots open when the first car arrives, usually by 8am, no fee to park, by 10 the lots are filled up, cops are very laid back and let us be. If there is, it will probably be the Thursday through Saturday before they will actually go on sale. That seems to be the trend (a few days before the official sale).jbk20140 wrote:Any word whether there will be a presale for GW and if so what the password will be?

Seriously though, they are a bit more mellower than normal because they are experienced with parrotheads so they know we will party but usually will cause no harm.
I have often wondered about that. There have been years (since Tweeter music took over) where I have seen Aerosmith or the Allman Brothers or Dave Matthews in Mansfield and I have been told that no alcohol at the tailgate was allowed . . . and then a week or two later at Buffett the police don't care . . . build bars with 500 dollars worth of alcohol and give it away to everyone for free without checking ID all day while walking around with open cans of beer taking pictures with the police with with a topless girl next to you . . . the magic of Buffett; I suppose.BottleofRum wrote:aeroparrot wrote:Wait, Mansfield cops are laid back?BottleofRum wrote:many things, lots open when the first car arrives, usually by 8am, no fee to park, by 10 the lots are filled up, cops are very laid back and let us be. A Buffett I think they are more laid back. Remember Mansfield has a law that says you can't drink alcohol while tailgating. How many times have you heard of people getting busted for drinking at Great Woods? Not many!
You guys know this, but for the benefit of others, you have to be cool and the cops will be cool. Give them trouble and you'll get trouble back. You can't flaunt the alcohol. Bring cups, because you can't be drinking from bottles or cans. Even beer bottles with koozies over them are no-no's.drunkpirate66 wrote:I have often wondered about that. Doubtful. We are spending time in Ireland this summer with her family (well I will be windsurfing off the Maharee pennisula . . . hee hee) and I am coming back early August for work . . . she is going to stick around out there because I think she has finally come to terms with my nomadic self and that she will be traveling to Alaska with me when I head up there in late October for work. I think she will be out Ireland way until atleast mid - september although she may be back. She is going to want as much family time as possible before we move to an island in the middle of nowhere . . .MacPhin wrote:john, will you be bringing your better half this year. i hardly got to talk with her last year.
